Ready to Apply CT Community Colleges- Nursing Program 2011

Published

Hello all,

It's almost that time of year again! I'm applying to the 2011 class which the application period begins this November 1st. We have two months to prepare our applications! Anyone else applying? I've seen the support the last year's class has with this sort of thread and I figured there should be one started for 2011 applicants. What is your TEAS score? GPA? A&P I grade? What were the averages that the 2010 applicants had and they are now starting the fall 2010 program?? Good luck!!!

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

Hi Morgan!

I don't have one by anyone's name because there is a 15 minimum post requirement. After that apparently they will appear by the usernames. I received your email, thank you! It came to this forum first but when I responded I used your email and you should now have mine. I look forward to the group studies, they can be so very beneficial!!! TTYS! :D

For those who might be anxious to get a head start on the dosage calculations course there is one online I had to take ("math for nursing" pre-req for STCC) that I took back in January and it only took me a few weeks to get through. I liked it because it allowed you to choose the methodology that best suits you or you can learn all three. Formula method, ratio and proportion method and dimensional analysis method.

Here is the website:

In the "find" box type in 3-2-1 Calc

The actual online course will come up 3-2-1 Calc! Comprehensive Dosage Calculations Online. I believe the online price was $65 or $70 and you will have access to it for a full year.

Good luck, I'm sure you will all do great!

What "Dosage Calc" course are you talking about? I didn't see one for the CT Comm Colleges (I did see that for STCC, though.)

I don't think that the CT Comm Colleges are going to take that Dosage Calc in lieu of the two Parmacology courses, but I could be wrong... haven't actually asked anyone (but, I highly doubt they'll take it as a substitution). Did you talk to someone who told you otherwise??? Maybe I missed something completely... just curious!

Did anyone get accepted to northwestern?

Jdoll.. I am thinking about applying there next year? What is it like? Is the program accelrated?

nef203,

I would definately apply. Yes it is accelerated but you are done in 15 months, just make sure all pre and co reqs are done. I love that it is a small school and the professors are always willing to help.

Thanks! I have everything done. I was waitlisted at GWCC and I feel like I will be waitlisted there next year. I was told they only had 47 applicants this year.

Hi CJ,

On the backside of the letter from the director of nursing item 3 indicates that during the first week of Nursing 101 you need to pass a medication dose calculation exam. I was only suggesting that the short online program I did for STCC as a pre-req was very informative and thought I would share. The online one I suggested is not required at all through any of the CT colleges. Hope that clarifies my post for you!

AH! Now I see what you were getting at. Thanks for clearing that one up for me, and anyone else who was reading and wondering the same thing!
