Read the thread before you post!!!!!

Sorry, vent here, and please don't flame me for saying this.....

I'm getting really annoyed reading threads in which the exact same thing is said over and over again! Please please please please PLEASE read the existing posts before adding your own, and know what the original post was about before adding your thoughts!

If you don't have time/don't want to read every post in a long thread, then do what I do - just stay out of that thread!

Okay thanks, I hope ya'll don't hate me for saying it, but it's driving me nuts. I just finished reading new posts in a 20 page thread, and I bet 100 of those posts say the same exact thing! :deadhorse

I think you look really good :)

Also, you have a VERY valid point. If someone is going to have a strong opinion about something, atleast read two or three pages of the post. I feel that is far enough in,, after that.. it is pretty much repetition. Most things have been clarified by the third page.

What about the dead horse beating going on in the yelling doctors thread. I like to get updates on the threads that I've posted on,, that one just keeps going and going,,, like the energizer bunny. The energizer bunny beating a dead horse. lol

I agree about the strong opinion part; or if you're going to ask a question. But if you're going to tell someone "congratulations" on passing the NCLEX I hardly see the need. But I admit that I generally read the entire thread before posting; quite often by the time I get to the end everyone has left! :D

I don't mind at all if someone posts a simular response to the posters above them. It's kinda like an opinion pole... "most of the responders thought..." It just reinforces the first response. By the way- I didn't read through all the posts so if I exactly repeated something someone said- sorry it makes you nuts, but not sorry I posted.

What bugs me (hijack!) is quoting 7 or 8 paragraphs of the original post. For heaven's sake, I read it there the first time, just respond!:coollook:

Miko, I have noticed the mods will shut down a thread when "everything that needs to be said has been".:D

Yes. It annoys me when people quote entire posts too.

LOL..i hope i am not repeating something someone else said, because i myself only read about half of the post..

my conclusion to all of this? the original op hates long repeated posts to a thread, yet he has repeatedly posted in order to explain himself, and yet we have 4 pages of this already!!

Each of my replies were to specific individual posts. If you don't have time to read the whole thread before posting, or at least to skim over the posts to make sure your point hasn't already been made 75 times, maybe you shouldn't be spending so much time online. And your style of talking about me like I can't understand you or I am not here is quite insulting. You see, I do read (or at least skim) the posts in the threads in which I am participating.

I agree, the yelling docs one is the reason I started this one in the first place. Thank you for proving that I am not the only one this bothers. I would think nurses would have at least the basic courtesy to be informed on a topic and the opinions that have already been shared before voicing their opinions. I guess I was wrong.

I expected some differing opinions on this, but I didn't expect it to deteriorate to name-calling quite so quickly. It makes me sad.

Yeah, the OP has clarified since the first page, and really what the OP was sayyying, is that .....

Oh heck, nevermind.

It's pointless.

Well, I guess what we do, is start ignoring the posts that don't make any sense. Right? Thats all we can do. Even when it is hurtful to the OP, just like another poster said with the example of the pregnant nurse. I know it would suck if I lost my baby and then I STILL kept getting responses of you can do it! etc etc.. and my baby is gone. .. and the thread was only a few pages. I know that some people will read this and be like, what is she talking about? oh well,,... and then they'll start berating you about how it's okay for everyone to read the first post and give thanks to someone over and over for fifty pages.

*sigh* We could start a support group.

I agree. I always search first for anything I'm particularly interested in. I'll even bump a thread if I have to instead of starting a new one on the same topic.

Funny, I stopped reading the yelling doc thread after it got to be about 3 pages, pretty much for the same reason-I figured--how much more is there to say about that subject? And I have never even opened the "how you know you're a nurse" thread, same reason. Sometimes I think people just post stuff because they like to see their number of posts go up..:D Man, I gotta work on that..:rotfl:
