RE: RN pay in the philippines

Hello, I think we all notice how many filipinos are working here in the US. May I ask what the pay is in the philippines. I heard it was like 500 pesos a day. I understand why so many want to come over here.

Thank you.

Ben

In my opinion:

Philippines is over crowded with people. No Birth Control, or Catholic Religion, or whatever the reason.

I call it mass over crowding. And Labor rate is cheap in PI, that includes Lawyers, and most professions.

They have too many people chasing too few jobs. Labor is so cheap in PI.

They have a population that is heavily college educated that can not find work.

This in not Nurse specific, this is PI specific.

i know of two very good, very expensive hospitals here in manila, that pays basic (minimum) wage of 350 php a day for staff pos... OR and ICU, 10k a month, taxes not including!

But this is the part I don't understand. If conditions were that bad in my country, we wouldn't put up with it and we would change the government. What is being done about the lousy conditions in the PI other than everyone who possibly can, leaving? Do people even think or talk about that? Esp. now that nurses don't have as many options for other places to go, with new immigration restrictions in place in some of the most "popular" other countries ... What are you doing to improve your situation besides hoping and praying that some other country will "rescue" you by letting you come live and work there?

It's not that easy as it seem. Corruption runs deeper than most people realize. It is overpopulated and the teeming poor will sell their votes to any politician who will give them favors. That's why you see the same problems every year and even the middle class will be outnumber when the tyranny of numbers rule in every election. Armed revolt won't do anything as the generals are as corrupt as the mainstream politicians.

anyone who has an idea of salary... from St Luke's?... greatly appreciated...:D

Any idea back on your mind as to the appropriate action to do with regards to this problem? Rally along hospital premises? Talk to BON? Talk to congressmen who can help us to raise a bill for an increase wage for every healthcare workers, or just go with the flow as to this issue was brought about many years ago, but until now there were no legal actions made? If only there is someone out there--a nurse--who is brave enough to fight for our rights as a nurse...then we can change the status quo we are in.

I just graduated. I am not even an RN yet. Right now, I am still researching on how we can get our voices heard and how we are going to go about the change in our current system. This is the least thing I could only do for now. I think the change that we are aiming for would be a long and complicated process.

What I know is that the ff. agencies involved would be the:

Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB)

National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC)

They are the one that sets the minimum wage for the regions in the country. There's only one occupation (Househelpers) that has it's own minimum wage rate others are set by sectors: Hospital workers, Retail/Service workers, Workers in schools, Cottage/Handicraft workers.

I believe the Associated Labor Unions (ALU-TUCP) and the Philippine Nurses Association (PNA) would be very instrumental into making the change possible.

Now who are the particular persons to approach would be the next step.

Or better yet, is there a nursing organization that is working on this cause that we are probably are just unaware of?

And I believe if we could just find the right congressman, if he's smart enough, he would listen to our cause. He will have the nurses vote. Just imagine how many nurses are in the country.

From where I'm working, our basic pay per month is 11,000/month that is for probees only then for regular RN its 11,800 + premium and OT. Then sum it all up then deduct the tax every 15th of the month then tax, sss, pag-ibig and others every 30th of the month.

Its a good thing I live with my family, but if your living independently, this salary will never be enough!!!

Oh I forgot, we also have have meal fee every month of 750 that adds up to our salary.
