Rate My Professor

Published

Since I am almost done with my prerequisites, I wanted to share something that I thought was fun and interesting. If you are signing up for a course, or done with a course, you can put your two cents here and rate your professor. You can see what other students have written about the professor before you take the class.

Of course we all know that some professors you just can't get away from. I thought this was an interesting site regardless.

Best wishes to amybethf for a successful semester.

I can tell you we like the nursing professors at HFCC very much. My section has two, and they are very fun and funny. They're very professional but they make class interesting and enjoyable. I look forward to my nursing lectures every single day.

I speak to a few others from other sections, and they seem to feel the same way about their instructors as well. I've heard about these mean instructors in nursing school, and I'm starting to wonder where they are! (OK, I know there are some negative ones out there!!)

They are also the ones we'll have at our hospitals when we start mid-October. They want us to do well and we are getting that message loud and clear.

I have boundless respect for the HFCC nursing program.

Eeek.. I'm sorry, I didn't know that, and I've mentioned a couple of prof's here. :smackingf

I'll refrain in the future from doing so.

I don't think any nursing instructors from MCC are rated on that site either.

I haven't put my application in for the program, I plan on doing this next week, but, regarding ratemyprof.... there are teachers from MCC on there, maybe just not the ones in the nursing program, but other profs are in there. I frequent the site every time I start and/or finish a class and put my remarks in.

This website I found is a MUST. It has rankings by student, by class, for every school imaginable in the USA.

It's a realtively new site, so people like us can help them build their database...and in the end, BENEFIT US ALL!

I looked up my schools, and the rankings? Were dead accurate based on my own personal experiences.

To the mods...I'm not affiliated with this site in any way...I just thought this would be very helpful :)

In my experience, Rate My Professor has been very inaccurate, quite a few students at my school have used it as an opportunity to personally slam a professor just because they didn't do the work, or failed. Not what i call reliable info IMO.

I think it's quite easy to pick out the bogus reviews, they are mixed in with glowing ones. I think the site is messed up right now, though; for my college it shows all the recent reviews as "under review" . I find that the reviews for the professors I've had are usually dead on.

Yeah, the reviews that slam professors personally are usually pulled off for review, and don't make it back onto the site. I think the site does a great job for asking the section you took, the course number, the grade you received, etc.

MIKelly - MCC has nursing instructors are listed on ratemyprof - but not all of them, just a few. If you have any ? feel free to pm me.

This site has been invaluable for me! I have avoided wasting precious time taking terrible professors because of ratemyprofessors.com. There is always the occasional post from someone holding a grudge who slams the professor, but you can tell who they are right away. For the most part, people who take the time to post are posting honest and fair comments to help others. I think it's a great tool when it comes time to choosing your pre-req classes!

MODS - I am not affiliated w/ this site either and have learned not to post any names here but I was talking to my current prof for APII and he said that only students that have failed would bother to use this site, smart students don't have time to post!!!!!!! I told him, well, I'm smart and I peruse it! I also think u can tell what is bogus and what is dead on; it's been pretty accurate for me anyway. So, students, look up potential teachers!
