Hey all! Just wanted to start a thread for those who are applying for the RN new grad program at Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego for the Summer 2019 cohort so we can update each other about what's going on! Good luck to everyone!

Hi everyone! I just came across this forum and wanted to know if anyone received a job offer for Surgical. I did two interviews there and have not heard back. I just want to know if I should move on or keep waiting. :) Please let me know!

I have heard some units hired for both the Summer and Fall start during this past application cycle. I don't know if it will open up for an October start but maybe again in the Spring. Fall openings are usually posted in July/August

I'm unsure when they'll be posted but I was told they planned to have a Fall/October cohort as well. If it's anything like summer was, they opened them end of Feb for end of July start (5 months in advance) so I would think they would open October in June... But I have not confirmed that yet.

Does anyone know which unit hired for summer and fall already? I know for sure PICU and Surgical hired for both already, doubt they're gonna hire more when the fall app opens.

I know PICU hired for both Summer and Fall. The website initially said the next cohort application would be posted end of July, but then that got changed since there were so many applicants this past time around. Now it just says any status updates will be posted on their website

Also, any chance anyone knows the number of new grads they take per unit?

Each New Grad cohort is roughly about 25 people and that includes new RTs as well. If the units are hiring that round they typically may take anywhere from 1-4 new grads each depending on department needs and allotted budgets.
