I know of at least 3 organizations that have paid her to speak at their events. 
 

And yes, I've heard her schtick. I've also read the headlines. And I've heard other nurses IRL make reference to her. And absolutely, it's being portrayed as "poor overworked nurse thrown under the bus by hospital for making a mistake"

RV is not a nurse any more because she was deemed unfit for Nurse Role. She was not deemed unfit as a speaker and she has a right to tell her story if people are willing to pay for it.

I don't have any qualms with her living out her life and career, making money, owning a house, having a family.

What disgusts me is that she's making money pretending to be a victim.  What disgusts me even more is that professional nursing organizations are paying her to do it.

I've been taking care of people in an emergent setting for over 25 years now.  I've clearly made mistakes, but I have never committed an act of extreme recklessness as egregious as what she did and I have never deliberately hurt anyone.  

I feel that this is just doing our job.  If you feel that qualifies me as holier than thou, then I'll wear that badge with pride.

For what it's worth, if it were up to me that MD would have been prosecuted... that story was one of the worst things I've ever heard.  I just disagree that RV should NOT have been

Fair point... I don't know and don't care how much she's making.  I'm more bothered by the principle that remuneration is acceptable to her at all 

Others may disagree, but personally I would even be OK with her hotel and airfare being covered, maybe a small per diem—IF the focus is on her own mistakes and how we can learn from them... zero blame on the hospital.  But plane/hotel/food doesn't add up to anywhere near $10k.

I could say the same to you, do you own your mistakes or are you too busy judging those of us that you don't agree with.
