(Could apply to all nurses)
You can place a take out lunch order while lavaging and charcoaling an OD.
You find yourself talking shop with another nurse while out to lunch with a bunch of non medical types and realize all the others at your table are turning green and get very quiet.
You watch a movie and comment on the actors great veins.
You see a lady in line at the grocery store and KNOW she is a dialysis patient even before you see her shunt.
Neighbors call YOU to see if they should get their RX filled from the doc they just paid good money to see.

If you check eberyones hands for veins when you shake hands
when while lavaging you can also Identify what the patient has eaten or drank
when you see a person who is really being very full of it, and you automatically tell them to go take an enema
when every time you hold your wifes hands you always look and assess her veins

Know that you NEVER go to the ER with certain complaints:
a bad H/A
Female with stomach pain
"Red," "Dark," or "black" vomit
(disclaimer - unless your realllllly sick)
You grin when someone healthy mentions any of the above at triage.

:chuckle When people present to the ED with c/o HA or back pain & you automatically assume they are drug seekers. Sad but true.
Or, one of my all time favorites; a young women with abd pain, n/v, sexually active but not using BC & her last period was 2 months ago, gee folks, whatever could be wrong?!:chuckle

Or the young lady with cramping abdominal pain that radiates all the way round to the back, with nausea, Denies sexual activity, and has a pressure pain "Down There" as she put it. The triage nurse makes her priority 2 patient and sends her back to the ER, where a seasoned old Nurse takes a glance quickly, says " Oh Shuckins" and rushes her to straight to L and D with her parents tagging along and totally bewildered why we were rushing her to L and D. They got their answer about 15 minutes later.
Merry Christmas

When check vein sites, and fontenelles of babies.
You are the only one that don't get sick with the flu
and when a nuclear bomb explodes, it is only ER nurses and cockroaches that are still alive:uhoh3:

...You hear someone referring to "GOMER PYLE" and you do NOT think of the tv character, you think 'code brown'.
....you plan your days off around the full moon.
