Hi all,

I'm 33 y/o, married for 11 years with four kiddos - girls are 10 and 8 and the boys are 4 and 20 months. We also have three cats and a big, lazy yellow lab. I'm in an accelerated BSN program - started in Jan and will graduate in December.

I'm immersed in summer semester right now...an 18 week semester crammed into 13 weeks (yeah, did I mention the program was accelerated to begin with?). Just finished my second week of peds clinical (3 days a week, 7am-4pm) with one more week of this rotation to go -- then on to psych for 3 weeks.

My house is a mess (has been since January), my laundry piles up and we've eaten more boxes of mac & cheese in the last 5 months than we did in the last 5 YEARS!

But I love this!! I can tolerate the brutal schedule for a year in order to do something I love. Hmmm...I may not feel the same way after the Pharm exam on Monday -- another weekend in front of the books!!

People think I'm nuts b/c I had been telecommuting full-time with really good salary. But my dear hubby had a horrible nurse experience when his appendix perforated (1st doc he saw told him he had the flu and gave him Darvocet...HUH???) -- uh, let's see...then Nurse Ratchet told him he had to leave the hospital (48 hrs post-op) b/c insurance wouldn't pay for any more (total bs) and she "didn't know" if dr. had ordered an antibiotic Rx to be sent home -- that was one week before he was re-admitted with massive peritonitis and had to go under the knife again to have three softball sized abcesses removed...PIC line antibiotics, 210# athlete down to 175#, nearly died. Hmmm...I kind of thought I had more compassion for people and could do just a little better advocating for the pt than this nurse. Forgot about it for a while... then lost three friends on 9/11 in WTC. I decided life is too short to work at a job you hate just for the money. So here I am... :)

Best of luck to all!!

Hugs,

Pam

Hi everyone,

I will be turning 28 in about a month or so and I am married with 2 kids. My little girl is 8 and my son is 4. I am getting ready to start my second nursing semester and I am hooked!! It was a bit of a challange in the begining but I got through it and am on my way!!! I met a wonderful woman on this site and she has been the greatest mentor ever!!! Lilmamita best of luck to you in your last semester. I am sooooo proud of you and I I know you are going to be an awsome nurse!!! Its so nice to have you to talk to. You have really become a true friend to me!!

Awwww!:crying2: :kiss That was so beautiful! Thank You!

The sentiment goes both ways. It has been an absolute pleasure being your friend. It's funny how we clicked right away. I'm glad we met here. Congrats on a successful first semester. You know what it takes to get through ( ie, study, study, study, cry, scream, vent, study , study, study! LOL). Good luck this summer, keep bustin' out those grades!

I am an "almost 30" year old mom of 3. I am taking my pre reqs for the ADN program at a college about 30 miles away. I have a wonderful husband who has been very supportive, as well as grandparents and other family willing to help.

I am most worried about juggling everything....church, school, children, etc.... My oldest daughter and I also breed and show angora rabbits. She has been great about taking on more responsibility and tells everyone how proud she is of mom for going back to school.

i am 25 and just finished my first nursing class. We start lab work this coming week....very excited but starting to get a little stressed...

I am 25 years old with a 18 month old daughter and wonderful husband. I start school in the fall for the first time since I graduated highschool 8yrs ago. I am a little nervous!!

I have spent the past 6 years working my way up the tourism ladder in Alaska whe I relized that I was not doing what I wanted, only what I had always know.

3 years ago I became and EMT with the local volunteer ambulance service and never turned back. I worked for a year at the local clinc as a MA. I love it and am looking forward to leaning more.

I plan to post often as school gets under way!

I'm 27... I started a 4 year nursing program 2 years ago, but then left in the first semester when I got pregnant and was having some complications.

I've since opted to switch to the local community college's 2 year program. So for the summer, fall and spring I'm taking prereq's and applying for the nursing program there next fall. :)

I have 1 child... Brucie, currently 10 months old. I commute to the school further away b/c my mom is on the way and I drop Brucie off with her. :)

Hi, I will be 25 in Nov. I just finished my first year of pre req and I am starting my 1st year of my ADN program in Aug. I am a single mom to a 2 year old son. I work full time and go to college full time. It is hard work, but I am so glad that I am finally going through with it. I just wish I would have did this 5 years ago.

Hey, where are all of our "25 - 35" year old students....I know you all are out there....come on and post and let us know your plans....

Hi everybody!!!! I am a 28 yr old mom of 2, ages 6 and 2. I am just finishing up my 1st year of pre-reqs for my BSN. I am hoping to apply to nursing school summer of 2004. I am still working full time, school full time and trying to keep the kids fed and clean. I do have a great husband and parents who help out alot and that makes it not as hard.

The hardest thing for me is when my daughter tells me she wishes I didn't have to go to school anymore. That breaks my heart. Overall I think she is proud that I am going back to school, but she is only 6 and still wants me to be there with her.

This semester I am taking Philosophy, Am. Lit and Chemistry.

I look forward to getting to know all of you!!!!

Hello All-

I am a 26 y/o male and I will be working towards my BSN beginning this fall. Will be wrapping up my final pre-req in July (Micro Lab!!).

This will be my second bachelors degree--career changer here. First degree is in Business/Finance. Will be working FULLTIME during the day and going to school part-time: evenings & weekends. PRAY FOR ME!!!!!

Best of Luck to everyone!!

Hello!!

I am 27 years old, married with 2 sons ages 2 1/2 and 4 1/2. I recently was accepted into nursing school which begins in Aug. '03 and I am very excited and very nervous. I have taken all the pre-reqs and have the next 2 years to focus on nursing classes only. My husband is very supportive of my decision to return to school and helps me with the kids, cooking, housework, etc. so I am able to study. I am looking forward to graduation already and I haven't even started nursing classes yet. I am sure I will be so busy with clinicals and studying, the May '05 will be here before I know it.
