"Hypothetical" situation....

Nurses General Nursing

Published

OK, just want to preface this by saying that this is not about me.

I've been doing some searching around the internet about what types of nursing offenses are required to be reported to the nurses BON, to no avail. I keep finding stuff about "mandatory reporting" in terms of child or elder abuse and the like. But I'm taking about if a nurse is fired from her job, is that automatically reported to the BON, or only if she is fired for certain reasons?

I tried the official site for the Ohio BON, and I didn't really see anything that pertained to this issue. If anyone has any info, or any links to info, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Heather

We have floor stock ibuprofen and acetaminophen for the staff. In a pinch, you can usually get the pharmacist to give you an OTC med such as Sudafed or Tums. .

??? USUALLY GET ???

Last hospital I worked for it was quite common for me and the other nurses to give out stock OTC medications to staff. From administration down to co-op students. As long as they didn't want something that would make them drowsy no one questioned it.

"Hypothetical" situation.... In Ontario

the hospital must report a nurse that has been fired or would have been fired if they have not resigned.

Oh, as long as we are confessing, I forgot, I took a roll of toilet paper home when I was moving and couldn't find my own and too tired to even stop at the store.

I drank an Ensure when I had a pt go bad just after a lunch I didn't get to and I needed to do a 2h transport before I could even think of getting a chance to eat. (I don't recommend Ensure, bleah!)

As a student nurse I graduated with an ice cream container full of alcohol swabs in my room, I think I threw them out. And right now I have a constant supply of pens as I tend to go to work with two and come home with six. I honestly don't know how they got there.:0 But I bring em back...honest.

I took two pairs of nonsterile gloves for a hairdying party.

I trade off books from the pt cart that I would like to read with ones that I've already read (and didn't particularly like). But I bring in all my old magazines- good ones too- and someone else takes them, so it seems a fair trade.

Confess!!! What have you taken(borrowed)? Don't play innocent.

LOL!! No, that would involve another "amber" liquid!! Also comes in other colours...:D :roll

As for stealing!! Well you theiving mongrels!!! I am shoked and appalled!! How could you?

Do you know how much that costs hospitals each year!!!

:saint: As if we don't get paid enough to buy our own supplies!!

Okay. I have no idea how the size 8 surgical gloves got into my house when I put a relaxer in Emma's hair. I believe they may have landed in my yard as the Life flight helicopter flew over my house and the flight surgeon accidently dropped the pack out of the helicopter and it landed on my patio at the precise time I was preparing Emma's hair for the relaxer treatment.

Something similar happened when I went to buy my new lawn chairs at Service Merchandise's Going-Out-of-Business sale. I was innocently driving my car to the store when the back doors of an ambulance flew open and a roll of Kerlix flew out and landed in my car through my open sunroof. I tried to speed up and catch the ambulance to give them back their roll of Kerlix, but it just so happens the roll of Kerlix came in handy when I needed to tie down my trunk to take my new lawnchairs home.

Really, honest and for true. Those things happened. Truly.
