"From doctors to beautiful ladies..."

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Keith Richards left a note to hospital he stayed at:

"From the doctors to the beautiful ladies who make painful nights less painful and shorter, I'm pretty much at a loss for words to express my deep gratitude"

I guess by "beautiful ladies" he means the nurses. Were all the doctors males, or ugly women, I wonder? I guess the doctors cured him and the beautiful ladies... did something.

Never mind. I stayed out of this conversation for all these pages and I'm stepping out now.

Thanks for educating me on the general populus, as I had no idea. Did you notice how I said "some people"? Some people DO look for reasons to jump to the offensive for every little thing. Sure, it might rub others the wrong way, but I know a handful of people who seem to always be looking for conflict.

"Geesh"

i think you've got to consider the context of the situation. i've had little old ladies call me "honey" more often than i can count. am i supposed to be offended?

this can be elevated to the point of silliness, at which point the point becomes pointless :).

honestly, i've got too much to worry about to go out of way to find offense in such a comment, clearly made in good faith.

i've got to agree with cassy. geesh.

I think it's unfortunate that you are unable to disagree without being rude.

from a fellow Southerner

Seriously, if nurses have nothing better to do with their time than to become up in arms because a former druggie rock star calls them "beautiful ladies"....they DO, indeed, need to get a life. ;)

It's not rude, it's the facts.

I think that I am a beautiful nurse. I am also a beautiful mom, wife and daughter. (although, I will never be considered a beauty queen, lol) I would accept the compliment in the tone it was intended. I feel a great sense of pride when I walk in and someone says, here is your beautiful nurse. I am taking care of these people when they are their most vulnerable, they are hurting, scared and know that their lives have changed forever. To Keith Richards I say, a sincere THANK YOU! It sure is nice to know that a nurse made a difference in your life.

I truly believe in womens lib and creating a good image for nursing but frankly, if someone writes a note saying that the staff made the nights easier and less painful in a very painful time in their life, it gives the image that nurses are essential, important and appreciated. I think it is a "beautiful" compliment for us "beautiful ladies" doing the job to take care of our patients. Caring for patients fully and totally is a "beautiful thing" in and of itself.

I don't believe you understand the difference between "fact"

and "opinion". ;)
