  1. Hmm I never figured out who my classmates in this thread are. :) I need to get a new login on here so I'm not so obvious! Anyway, with one final to go before I officially have 1 quarter under my belt, I officially have no complaints. I'm really enjoying it. Now, I don't have a full time job and kids to juggle so I imagine my experience would be a heck of a lot different if I did. I heard of lot of the "they want you to fail, THEY WILL BREAK DOWN YOUR WILL TO LIVE!" rumors before going in both on these boards and in person. Ok, not as bad as "breaking down your will to live" but the people I heard the "they want you to fail, they don't care about you" stuff from got pretty dramatic sometimes. The instructors have been nothing but encouraging. They want you to succeed and if you're having problems they want to help you figure out why and what can be done to make you successful. So, thus far I give it an A+++++....would do business with again. ETA keeping up with the coursework online as opposed to in a classroom has not been as hard as I thought it would be! Though the next two quarters will REALLY be a challenge. YIKES!
  2. My 100 is on Thursday nights at 6pm and and 110 is Friday mornings at 8, how about you?
  3. Buehler? Buehler? Any other 2010 graduates out there? I'm in the online track, how about you?
  4. I am positive it was navy. Now I don't know if they changed it since I took the class, but I doubt it. Our uniforms were CSCC's colors. Lots of on-time vibes and thoughts for you to GET OUTTA THERE. Please keep us posted!
  5. It was my understanding that if you go to Chamberlain and later want to go beyond the degree you earned there, your credits won't transfer. Unless I flipped that with Bohecker.
  6. When I took the class in fall of '06 it was white scrub bottoms and a navy scrub top.
  7. I applied to both online and the traditional. I found out about my online acceptance in February. I think they took me out of the running for the traditional after I accepted the online offer because I never heard a word about it. If you apply to both, they don't mess around when they say apply AT 9am when the window opens. I was #2 to apply but I know others who applied in previous quarters would technically be in front of me. Some students in the online program currently and new graduates said they worked full time at my orientation but it was REALLY hard. It's recommended to NOT work full time but if you have the right work ethic it IS possible!
  8. If you already have your bachelors, would you do the online program? That's what I'm doing. I got in on the first try. As for your question, I took Bio 101 at OSU and the second part of the series (I can't honestly remember the number) at CSCC and transferred the credit. I took Chem 100 at OSU and Chem 113 at CSCC b/c it's a nursing pre-req. When I took the first bio and Chem 100, nursing wasn't even on my radar. If it had been, I would have taken more challenging courses but it all worked out in the end. Best of luck. I chose CSCC because it is LOADS cheaper than Capital and Mt Carmel. Sure, I'll walk out with an ADN and not a BSN, but I already have a bachelors and will be able to earn a BSN in the future when I'm making real money. I didn't want to plunge myself into crazy debt. (I just graduated from OSU in winter 07 so it's not like I have built up a solid savings yet) If money isn't an issue, I would definitely look into Otterbein (which I hear is FABULOUS), Mount Carmel, Capital, and OSU. You can actually do prereqs at OSU if you already have a bachelors and then go directly to an MSN degree, bypassing the ADN or BSN. (It was also out of my price range)
  9. I would watch how you approach that. CSCC is going to look at the whole package, not just your grades. They'll definitely look at what prereqs you too, their difficulty, and your grade.
  10. https://oh.transfer.org/cas under the login boxes there's a link that says "guest login". Select that and go from there. Math 1210 - Math 148 According to the webpage, the other classes don't transfer. Double-check with COTC though.
  11. One of my professors (who teaches at Mt Carmel also) said that if you work for their health system as a PCA or something you get a decent amount off your tuition.
  12. Though it's pricey, I've heard fabulous things about Mt Carmel from both students and instructors.
  13. That's what I did, I took the first one (it was Mult 120 when I took it) in a half-quarter class. It's only 4 or 5 weeks long. We started at the beginning of fall quarter and were done by the end of October. I thought it would be boring to go to for several hours a day 4 days a week but our class became like a little family, it was neat.
  14. Your information has been invaluable! Thank you so, so much! My information is rolling in! Just a day or two after I posted this (after the woman at CSCC said it would be mailed out in 2 weeks) I received my orientation/uniform information. Yesterday I received my health record info. GRRR, it is going to be such a hassle to get all my immunization records together! I have had 3 doctors back home, my last doctor back home switched to a new practice, and one doctor in Columbus. Luckily I have some vacation time coming up so I can make a bunch of phone calls and figure out what's where. I called my high school and couldn't get a straight answer as to whether or not they "still had" my immunization records. I graduated all of 6 years ago, they better still have them! I'm really looking forward to putting together all of the pieces and getting started with this! I've waited for years, I can't believe it's finally time to start!
  15. That advice was VERY helpful, thank you. I had no idea about the nursing shortage in Columbus being resolved. More than likely, I'll be moving out of Columbus in summer 2011 (a year after graduation) unless my boyfriend matches somewhere here. (he's in med school, graduating in 2011) I need to hurry and take my nurses aid test before my window expires this fall and was planning on getting a job at one of the hospitals and your advice certainly provides me with extra motivation to do that! I would hate being a newlywed with no job. Oh, and is this orientation generally during the week or on a weekend?
