:trout: Oh my GAWD!!! I hate this questions from my classmates. The teachers could be all in really going with the lecture and one classmate always ask this STUPID question. I am sorry there goes the saying, "There are no stupid questions." That is indeed stupid.
I am also finding that some of my classmates want the teacher to "spoon feed" what to write on their notes. I am thinking we are in college people. High School days are gone!:smackingf . This one student want the teacher to slow down so she can write every word coming out of the teacher's mouth. We have a 6PM class, one student said, you need to slowdown because I am tired and I have been here since 12PM.:flamesonb I am thinking, I have been up since 5:30AM, handled kids, worked, fought 50 minutes traffic, and I am here prepared.
I am sorry, just a little ticked. I had to vent, now I feel better......:pumpiron:

I know the feeling. When I took A&P I last year I had a class full of people like this in the beginning. They were also the complainers. Anyway, by the end of the semester they had all failed out and I no longer had to hear those kinds of questions any more.
My little theory is that people like this don't study very hard and they are big on excuses. They think the instructor should hand them all the answers before the test so they do not have to put in any effort. They also assume that everyone in the class is doing poorly as they are with very few excpetions so the instructor must be mean! If you have an instructor that is hard core like mine was on exams, these students will be gone in no time.
My A&P II class was filled with good students with a few exceptions. The few exceptions came from an A&P I course that was really easy. The people from the easy course flunked out quickly! Only a few were left at the end and those were barely passing with Cs. The same occurred in Micro.
As time goes on the non-studiers and complainers will either shape up or ship out. At least that is my experience. Hang in there.

vent away. I used to hate hearing that question over and over and over again while I was in nursing school!

"do we have to know this for the test?"
i've always wanted to reply:
"you have to know this so you don't kill someone when you're a nurse someday."

I can understand your frustration. I hear this question a lot in college. Some of my classmates have complained that they shouldn't have to read something if they won't be tested on it. I've also noticed that some classmates have complained that they are "too busy" to read everything and that it's "unfair" of the professor to only give them a month to do a term paper. This is based solely on my personal experience, but it seems like there are more "education excuses" from college students now than there were when I was in high school back in the 1980s.
I should add if the teacher is telling you about her kids or her great antie Emma make these awesome pies, no, these questions will not be on the test....IF the teacher is talking about the hepatic protal system, etc, pretty good chance, it may be on the test or you may need to know it for future reference.

Get this...the newest thing in our school is that if a student gets below a 68 on a test the teacher needs to counsel the student, I guess ir's equivalent to having a conference. Our A&P teacher is NOT too happy about that but had to announce it since we had plenty bad grades on his lecture test on Monday (61 average!!!!).
Come on these are ADULTS...most don't do well on the tests because they don't STUDY, MISS CLASS, OR LACK TIME/VOLUME MANAGEMENT SKILLS....next thing you know they'll send a progress report to my mother ????:wink2:
I am tickled right with you!

I am so with you on this one! We had our second A&PII test today and a girl told me she was going to the dean if the class average was in the 60s again (it was 64 for the first test). I couldn't even reply I was so flabbergasted! Our prof has typed notes and basically reads off them, throwing out a few examples and clarifications. All we have to do is study his notes. Apparently though some of these guys also need him to spoon feed them! Gimme a break!

This is one reason I love this forum so much.....
So I know that I am not alone when I get annoyed with my class mates.
I am 34 years old....after 16 years of military service....now a reservist going to school full time, with the hopes of going to nursing school. So my attitude for school is way different from a lot of my class mates.
I spend about half of my lecture time annoyed with my class mates....and a even more time wondering why these people are here.
Nursing school is a VERY competitive school to get into. If you don't work hard and bang out a HIGH GPA...then you mights have well wasted your time.
Then again...this is the competition for getting into nursing school?

OMG, I didn't realize that this was so universal! People just need to go to class, read the assignments and study.....
