Hey, I am studying, will take nclex in TWO DAYS!! My problem is I have been doing some of the choose-all-that apply questions and I really, really suck at them. Any tips??
I am also pretty weak in OB. That worries me.
THanks Seren

hey!!! are you taking the NCLEX pn or RN.... If you are taking the NCLEX pn don't worry much about OB... There isen't much on it... There's a lot on med-surg and a lot of prioritizing and protective isolation... Most of the people in my class already took their NCLEX pn and they said the most OB questions they had was 2 and I only had 2 too... GOOD LUCK....!!!!

You know what? I WORSE than sucked at them; got barely any of them right. I had three (maybe four? I think three) on my NCLEX, just did my best and hoped for the best. I passed. Did I get them wrong? Maybe. PROBABLY! But the test doesn't keep giving you the same FORMAT question to see if you are able to answer SAP questions, it's testing competency in nursing.
So even if you get it wrong, you'll get another question that tests you another way, and you'll get it right.
I've wondered if my 79 questions instead of 75 was a result of that, lol!
Practice as many of them as you can, but don't obsess. Practice is SO the key to this test. As for being weak in OB, everyone has a weak area, the key there is to make sure you have all the bases reasonably covered. They don't expect you to be a new grad who's going to be a stellar OB nurse, just if you're reasonable and safe and know what to look for. More questions :)

hi,
you sound like me! i am extremely weak in ob, and was also worried about the select all that apply questions! and guess what i got on the nclex? mostly ob! (it figures) . but just focus on the question and try not to panic.most of the time its not about the subject matter, its about what you would do as a safe and effective nurse. i only ended up with 2 select all that apply questions, and they were pretty straight forward. if you are doing kaplan, then you know how crazy their questions are. the nclex is slightly less crazy, and more stright forward. i ended up passing, and im sure that you will too!
good luck!

I only had 5 or 6 check all that apply, thank goodness. I stink at them too. I didn't get any OB questions at all! Good luck to you. Just keep studying. That's all you can do. :)

Don't worry yourself about "select all tha applies" I had 75 questions and didn't get any of those. I had lots of priority, though. Even if you get them, think thru them the way you would normally eliminate and choose the best answer if given only 4 options.Bottom line is, understand your stuff and know your lab values, you'll be able to narrow most of them down to 2 and select your best choice. As far as OB, it's still about knowing the basic ABCs and your lab values. i didn't get any particular questions on OB but they were mixed with med-surg. So, if you know your ABCs, you'll be able to figure out which one to care for first and all that. Be calm and you'll do just fine. Goodluck!

I suck at those too. It's hit or miss with me. Sorry I don't have any advice except just be thankful the whole test isn't select all that apply! :)

I got a bunch of OB questions (a lot of drugs) and about 6 all that apply which I have heard is a good sign. Good luck.

I passed at 75 questions and got NO select all that apply. Of all my classmates only 1 that I know of (of at least 5) got select all that apply questions.
I got a lot of drug, infection control, delegation and prioritizing questions.
Just as an FYI, it's not a good sign or a bad sign no matter what kind of format you get. "Select all" questions can be on a low level or a high level. Some people get lots, some none. Means nothing.

In the Choose-all-that-apply questions, do AT LEAST 2 RESPONSES HAVE TO BE CORRECT? i.e., your answer will definitely be wrong if you only chose ONE answer.....OR..is it that "One OR MORE answers could be right"??? Thanks.
