  1. u of m is the best!!!
  2. yeah, I may decide to major in nursing education, because the administration aspect may not be want I think.
  3. try psych, male nurses tend to like that area
  4. I wanted to know what options are available for nurses getting a MSN in administration or education?
  5. willdgate replied to RN1980's topic in Tennessee Nursing
    memphis is a true city.
  6. it's not a big university eventhough they are beginning to build up on the campus.
  7. Different people start in nursing coming from different backgrounds. I would recommend someone to shadow a nurse or ask a nurse who is a friend questions about the profession, before going to nursing school to find out if it's for them.
  8. It is a great school.
  9. Due to your many, many, many, many, many, many years of experience of life and nursing you would certainly know who wants to be a nurse and who does not, right. Back to the topic at hand anyone know of hospitals in nashville, that have a diverse, friendly and non-discriminatory staff.
  10. Thanks ,to the two people that answer my question politely. Also, what are the people talking about regarding siblings, I don't have a sister, but I do have a brother.
  11. first, your friend may want to reevaluate if she wants to be a nurse, b/c nursing may not be the best career field. Nursing is a stressful career that has many drawbacks, and I would not recommend to get into nursing unless you are suceeding in nursing school. If she does not go to LSON anymore that may be a "blessing in disguise". IMO, I would not try anymore nursing schools and move on to another career, b/c I graduated from LSON and it is one of many few nursing schools in TN, that was pretty good. The other schools in TN are not good at all and have low N-clex pass rates. Maybe, Austin Peay is a pretty good school.
  12. cudlsnhugs if you did not agree with what I said you should have not responded to my post. Also, I never mentioned a name of a hospital. Yeah, their is two sides to a story and I was mentioning my side. calm down and get real.
  13. it is not that i did not see it coming as a nurse intern, but as an intern you are not accountable for nursing actions. however, as a nurse you are accountable as well as responsible, which puts a lot of stress on yourself. nursing is nothing like nursing school imo, b/c of the long hours, and nursing politics. in nursing school you are in clinicals in the am, but as a new grad you will rarely get the day shift. also, papers mean nothing, just paperwork, paperwork, paperwork.
  14. well, the med visited my nursing school, and the pay is typical tn pay around 18-20 dollars, insurance, I believe they have a new grad program. The med is a very urban hospital that gets all the cases from gunshot to MVAs. I have heard people say the staff sucks, but that may be hear say. In my opinion nursing is not a profession, but unprofessional job, so I would not want the high acuity pts., to add to the stress, but to each it's on. What dept. are you applying for?
  15. My sister worked for a hospital in Clarksville, TN...and she did not like it I believe she had about 12 pts, by herself on a med-surg floor...Clarksville is a small college town at least it was from 94-01, it has a mall, walmart, probably 2 hospitals, but believe this that Nashville, in some parts can suck in comparison to Clarksville. I would say it is not the worst small town surrounding nashville, but I would run from towns like Lebanon, Mt. Juliet, Madison, even some parts of the Hermitage are run down. I prefer the inner city of Nashville, instead of the suburbs of Nashville.
