OMG! I just took my first Anatomy class last night and the teacher gave us a quiz!!!!! He lectured for about an hour and a half, then gave us two hours to study/memorize before giving us a 10 question quiz!!! Is that normal?! I've heard that this was a tough class, but now I'm terrified!!
I formed a 'study group' with the three other girls sitting at my table - luckily we all have very similar learning styles and are pre-nursing majors. Do you have any other suggestions/advice on how to succeed in this class?? Thanks!

Work every day at it. Do not get behind. Our little "lab table" study group would divide up the questions (from whatever assignment or the review ?'s in the book) and each do some, then we would make copies and pass them around to each other, sort of like divide and conquer. We would quiz each other before an exam.

We had our first class yesterday on cardiac critical care and today we had a 20 question quiz. I guess you just get used to it, nothing surprises me anymore ha ha

For every rotation, we have a math test on the first day of school. It's pretty routine.
Keep up with your readings! It sounds pretty simple, but it's when you fall behind on your readings that you really begin to panic and wonder why none of the quiz questions sound remotely familiar!
During my Pediatrics rotation, the teacher would randomly give a quiz. The first few were quizzes were okay, and about 8-10 questions in length. One day she gave a quiz from hell: 6 questions with fill-in's and circle all that apply...Alot of people failed. I did poorly on that one because I worked late and didn't brush over my readings...

I agree with people who said note cards...anatomy is all about memorizing...so note cards are a must!!!!
Thanks for all of the great advice! I will get started on my flashcards and make sure to keep up on all readings. Wish me luck :)

I read the chapters *before* class, so that the lecture is not completely new information. Otherwise, everything sounds Greek to me the first time I hear it.
Also, you really need to know how to apply the info not just what it is. I always explained everything to my husband, even if all that info was on that particular note card. If you can explain it then you know it.
