  1. Hi Gemmi999! I got an offer for a New Grad Program at a large hospital in San Diego, so I took that instead. Good luck in EC! I've heard that the patient's are really great - very friendly and appreciative :)
  2. Hi Everyone! I recently interviewed at ECRMC as a new grad RN and am looking for insight/information on the hospital from anyone who has worked there. How is it working there?? How are the working conditions, patient load, training/orientation, management, as well as pay, benefits, ect..? I'm also not sure if I will move to El Centro or commute from San Diego (if offered a position). Any input would be Greatly Appreciated!! Thanks In Advance!!
  3. Congrats HopefulRN4! Did you already have your license when you applied?
  4. My application status for Grossmont's Med-Surg/Acute Rehab Residency changed to "no longer under consideration" today Good luck to anyone who's interviewed/still under consideration!!
  5. I've been following this on Facebook too... I heard that the OR Training Program already started interviewing/hiring, but I haven't heard anything about the RN Residency. Application status online shows that OR Training is "Interviewing" and RN Residency is "Routed"
  6. Thanks for the update, chad.maili0! I'm happy to hear that we still have a chance! Good luck everyone :)
  7. Has anyone heard from or interviewed for Sharp Grossmont's Med-Surg/Acute Rehab Residency yet?
  8. What does the New Grad Application to UCSD involve/require? Resume, Cover Letter, Questionnaire, Letters of Recommendation (how many?), References, Transcripts...? I understand that positions for the January New Grad Program will be posted soon soon and I wanted to be prepared to apply :) Thanks in advance!
  9. I'm SO excited!! Today I was accepted into the Spring 2013 cohort at the San Marcos campus! I applied to the program in the beginning of October and was really worried that I was too late. I'm so relieved and can't wait to start!! I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone at orientation next Monday! Does anyone know if a Facebook page for our cohort has been started yet? CONGRATS to everyone that has been accepted! And GOOD LUCK to everyone still waiting! Don't give up hope!
  10. Hi everyone! I'm also getting ready to submit my application for the Fall 2011 Program; however, I'm a little confused about the 6 unit Philosophy/Theology prereq which "Must be completed at CUI (1 semester prior to the start of nursing classes) – upon acceptance into BSN program". Am I correct in assuming that we will take this class in August(?) after we've been accepted to the program/before the Fall semester begins?? Or have you already taken this class? Thanks for any clarification :)
  11. Everywhere you turn, there is talk about the economic recession and it's effects on nursing jobs. I'm a pre-nursing student (finishing up prereqs) and am concerned about the job market like everyone else. While there's no way to predict the future, I think that looking at past trends is a good indicator of what we can expect in the future. So, this question is for nurses who have experienced previous recessions first hand: What exactly happened at your hospitals before/during/after previous economic lows (1973-75, 1980-82, 1990-91 & 2001)? I'm particularly interested in the staffing/hiring/job market trends you've experienced over the course of your careers and how they compare to our current recession. All insight is appreciated! Thank you so much!!
  12. Thanks for all of the great advice! I will get started on my flashcards and make sure to keep up on all readings. Wish me luck :)
  13. OMG! I just took my first Anatomy class last night and the teacher gave us a quiz!!!!! He lectured for about an hour and a half, then gave us two hours to study/memorize before giving us a 10 question quiz!!! Is that normal?! I've heard that this was a tough class, but now I'm terrified!! I formed a 'study group' with the three other girls sitting at my table - luckily we all have very similar learning styles and are pre-nursing majors. Do you have any other suggestions/advice on how to succeed in this class?? Thanks!
  14. Thanks everyone! Your posts really helped clarify the difference between the two classes. I'll definitely take the Math Stats class (instead of the Psych Stats). :) Since I wasn't sure if there was a difference between the two classes, it hadn't even occurred to me that the Psych Stats class might not transfer. I'm so glad that I asked for advice before registering! As for taking Stats online... I use to be really good at Math (took pre-calc in college); however, I haven't taken a Math class since then, which was 10 years ago!! I've also never taken a class online. It's these two reasons that I'm a little apprehensive about taking Stats online... I'm starting to think that maybe I should take Nutrition or Psycholoy online first to get use to taking classes online, and then attempt online Stats. What do you think? Any advice is greatly appreciated!
  15. Hi! I'm in the process of taking all my prerequisite nursing classes. It looks like Statistics is offered as a Math class (Math 119) AND as a Psychology class (Psych 258). Does anyone know if there is a difference between how these two classes are taught? Is one better than the other for nursing students? I'm not sure which one I should sign up for... Also, I'm thinking of taking Stats online since I'll also be taking Chemistry + Lab and Anatomy. Has anyone taken stats online? If so, do you recommend taking it online or in class? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you! :)
