I think that I have come to my final decision that nursing is not for me. I am failing Anatomy and Physiology and I know that if I dont like Anatomy I wont like Med Surd. My grade average percent is a 74% where as you need a 78% to move on. I have a 81% in foundations in nursing, which is mostly critical thinking. I understand with no problem. Im just not sure about it any more. I studied so hard for my exam and I got an 70%, when you hear other people saying that they got 80 to 100. It makes you feel dumb. Most of thr people just guess or memorized it without understanding and got 80's and 90's, which is not fair. I studied so hard for this exam and to know you scored better than me because you guessed is something BS.....I am really just considering to find another career because I knew it was hard, but I didn't know it was going to be this hard.???

Hang in t here!
I haven't started nursing school yet, but I can only imagine how difficult it must be. I read your last post about not doing so well on a few test and wanting to quit. I was hoping that things would get easier for you. what is it that you're finding most difficult about nursing school?
Anatomy is very difficult for me.

then you needed better preparation. perhaps a break from nursing school, and some self directed study in biology would stand you in good stead. try the "anatomy coloring book" also.

Why would you allow bad grades to change your life and dreams. It's rotten that their requirement is 78% to continue. I can see that for a Masters program, but my goodness they are full of themselves. Anyhow that is what you are unfortunately facing. You know people fail to make the grade. What you need to do is get refocused, and if you fail you fail. You got to reapply and get back in school and you take the class again. Anatomy and Physiology are very hard courses and don't compare yourselves to others when it comes to grades. Just because they made the cut doesn't mean they are going to be a better nurse. Being a great nurse come from inside you. Take advantage of work Study groups and tutoring. My wife started in a program with 28 students in a BSN-RN program and 21 people failed out during the next 2 plus years. But that 21 people that failed 15 of them reapplied to the school and went back and they all passed with the next Cohort and graduated, passed NECLEXS and today are nurses. The only ones that aren't nurses are those that have not replied after failing a class. Don't be one of those students.

From your post, it sounds as if you are taking A/P while already in the nursing program, not as a prereq to the program. Makes things harder. Perhaps you just need some time away, to gather yourself, find some help with your learning processes, rest your mind. Please discuss this with your nursing advisor and see if you can take this option. Withdraw, take A/P by itself so you can concentrate and pass. Then reenter the nursing program and carry on. You might surprise yourself. Best wishes.

Why do people here always make such a big effort to talk people into staying in nursing school when they say that they don't want to? Nursing is not for everyone, and there's nothing wrong with not wanting to pursue it. There are lots of other paths in life.

I've got to agree with this one. You've got to know this stuff. I've been in nursing 12 years and I am constantly reviewing A&P basics and re educating myself. I have heard nursing students complain about the requirements schools and instructors have placed on them, but the truth is nursing is tough. I have seen too many new nurses embarrass themselves when it is revealed that they are missing a huge foundation of knowledge. Don't try to slide by. Maybe consider another area of healthcare.

I was thinking the same thing. It's really okay to not want to be a nurse, or even to want it but realize it's not the right path for you.

Nursing is not the only career out there. Go with your gut and focus on your strengths because not everyone is good at nursing and lives are at stake. It is a high stakes profession and should not be entered into without assessing one's interest in this area as also in other areas of work. If all you do is dream about being a nurse and nothing else then I would say that is different because your heart is into it and this will make all the difference in your success. If your heart is not into it, then find something else that your heart is inclined towards. I know nursing can be difficult at best but it is also very rewarding. Do not beat yourself up if you decide against nursing, just move on and trust your gut instincts. You can always change your mind later and the advice given above regarding taking A&P before your nursing school begins is wise.

Schedule time with advisors and see what your options are, and go from there to make an informed decision.
Best wishes.

I mean this comment to be helpful for others: This post is exactly why I always suggest people get their CNA license first and if you like that you like nursing.
for OP: I am so sorry. There this something out there for you, whether its in the medical field or not!
