Quinnipiac University ABSN 2021 Cycle

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone!

I applied to Quinnipiac for the ABSN 2021 cycle, has anyone else?! Here are my applications stats:

A&P I: A-

A&P II: B+

Micro: B+

Stat: A-

My undergrad GPA is 3.09

Hopefully we hear back early March instead of late! ?

Congrats everyone! I was accepted too!

Does anyone know how many applicants are accepted into this program?

Congratulations on your acceptances! I was accepted as well! What criteria are you guys using to decide on where to go? And what would make you choose Quinnipiac? Looks like great facilities, but is on the pricier side.

Has anyone heard how their clinicals are and if they are getting in person rotations?

@nurseally7299

If I am remembering correctly they accept around 100 people and about 65 to 75 deposit.

@amy2021

My main deciding factor is the class schedule. I am still waiting to hear from SCSU but I remember them saying the schedule was super intense where QU seemed to provide some flexibility in class schedule/clinicals. I would also take into account how much financial aid each school would provide me. I have a mortgage and three small children whom I have to pay for child care and I will be quitting my job most likely leaving us solely reliant on one income. But I also am a huge fan of QU's holistic approach. I did their info session last Summer but I think I will join the one coming up in March to get a refresher and see if there are any updates that are covid related.

has anyone accepted yet?

Does anyone know if all acceptances were sent out on Friday? Or if there may be more to come?

@Pwemet if there is no update on your application portal yet then I'd assume there is still a chance that your acceptance could be coming! Not sure though

@amy2021 The cost is a big thing for me-- Quinnipiac is the most expensive program I've been accepted to, and I think I'll be declining the offer to go with a cheaper option. Other important factors for me are the locations and each program's NCLEX pass rates.

I am deciding based on location (UConn is closer to home) and price (UConn is much cheaper - I haven't heard about financial aid from QU yet).  So, it looks like UConn for me.

Downside is that QU has the holistic approach, which I think is pretty amazing, while UConn is more traditional.  I think both programs are great, though.  I believe all clinicals are in person, even through COVID.  I am planning to attend the info session at the end of March for QU, just as a refresher and to aid in my decision-making.  (As I said earlier, I am leaning toward UConn, but they don't start til January, so QU is on my "pro" side in that I could start / finish sooner...

I have not accepted yet - I think I am leaning toward UConn...  I thought I heard that QU is super intense, and no wiggle room at all - I would have expected SCSU's program to be more flexible....

I am also planning to attend the March info session to refresh my memory and to aid in the decision-making process...

I called/emailed admissions today and they said decisions will continue to be released over the next couple of weeks. I am hoping sooner rather than later as QU is at the top of my list and I need to make a decision for another school by the end of the week.

Did Chelsea say is decisions would be coming through mail or email? Has anyone else been accepted anywhere else? What are pros/cons you are using to help you decide between schools?

I was told we will find out via email. I was accepted to Adelphi and waitlisted for Sacred Heart. I'm from New York so Adelphi is close to home but at the same time I was hoping to get away from home for a while. At this point it just depends on if QU or SHU get back to me by the end of this week.

Sorry I confused my threads. Chelsea is in admission at SCSU where I am still waiting to hear from. I hope you hear back this week so you can make your decision. I heard Fridays is when they send out acceptances. worst case is you can accept Adelphi and then just lose your deposit? Good luck. I hope everyone hears this week!
