Sucks, paid for the quick results today and was literally shocked it said failed.
Feels like mike tyson hit me in the gut!!!
I got 3 incident report questions and 2 advanced directives. Probably 10-14 select all that apply. 1 picture (PPD shot) know I got that right, googled it!!!
I dont even know where to begin to study for the retake!!!
Man, besides myself right now....
paid another 200 and waiting for authorization to test and retake!!!
got to get back on the horse!!!!
dafishman, what I hear from you is a great deal of anxiety. I have found with my students that the anxiety blocks knowledge flow. Statistically speaking you don't want to wait too long to take the exam, with that said, I want you to slow down, take some deep breaths and let them out slowly. Review test taking strategies, and set back and do some relaxation techniques.
After my students were pinned several returned for some relaxation techniques and test taking strategies. They came with specific questions and we had a study session. I had 15 students complete, thus far 10 have taken the exam and one has failed, and I know it was due to her test anxiety, because I know she knew the material, she could verbally answer and work through the questions, but when she sat for most of her tests throughout the program she would get herself all worked up. As I said in my earlier post, there is such a thing as over studying. You know the material, try to relax a little, you will make it. I have worked with some of the best nurses who failed their exam the first or more times due to anxiety, and I have worked with some who past the first time and were some of the worst nurses I worked with. Just Breath!! :)

I do get a little anxious, maybe more than I thought? Next time, I will take my time, I wont rush through in 1:15 minutes and think I aced it. I wont read too much into it and like you say, relax. I do have anxiety. Was on meds years ago, was able to get off of them, now its much more bearable. Maybe with the baby it manifests itself a little more here and there and test day maybe I was a little anxious.
Next time I will be prepared......
I think you using Kaplan and other resources available will benefit you. I will say what you read in one, may be differently said (or expanded) in another resource. I was toggling between resources. Also, really take advantage of all of Kaplan - some folks didn't even know besides the content book, content videos and qbank/qtrainer, there are also question videos. I kid you not - if you watch a few of these (there are like 20-30 videos of 10 questions) you will see what you may be missing when you read the questions or answer choices! Light bulbs went on for me as I watched some of these... Missing one word in the question or in answer choices can cost you in choosing the wrong answer! If you put in the time - you will rock the test the next time!! Let your past experience go, and let you new efforts get you where you want to be. :)
Thanks! I will definitely use all their materials!
I will update everyone going forward, everyone has been awesome!!! Never would have expected it!
Ended up getting a 75 dollar discount through kaplan. So 325 for the classroom anywhere, I have 4 live sessions next week but there 930pm-1230am, so baby will be sleeping and should work out good.
I then have access to everything including the qbank and tests for 90 days. They space out the payments over 3 months, so 108 a month for 3 months.
I think thats the route I will go. The lady is going to call me in the morning and get me setup.

I'm glad to hear this. Your attitude throughout this whole thread has been phenomenal and I applaud you. I learned a lot, because I too am in the top of my class and have the NCLEX-RN exam scheduled for less than 2 weeks. Very nervous and trying not to freak out. However, I have been doing Saunder's and Kaplan. I do excellent on Kaplan's questions, but when I do the Saunders Alternate Format exams, I do horribly I am thinking of pushing my test date back.

Hi,
I did saunders (red book) online questions like 1500-2000 of them. They werent too bad but the nclex was nothing like them questions on my exam. Maybe its different with the RN.
Dont be anxious like I was, it wont help!!!! Im going to be calm and cool next time and take my time. No reason to rush.
A lot of people have told me kaplans questions are more like the nclex, so I am hoping they help me out!
I wish you the best of luck and let us know how you did!!!

I agree! Your attitude has been outstanding! Awesome about getting the discount too, dafishman. What happened with the Hurst refund?
Nursepallus, how are you doing on the Kaplan alternative format questions?

Hi Scared,
Still no response from Hurst. Called capitalone and gave them all the info. They will investigate and go from there. Sad I have to go through these hoops to get a refund that they guaranteed.
Oh well.....
