Sucks, paid for the quick results today and was literally shocked it said failed.
Feels like mike tyson hit me in the gut!!!
I got 3 incident report questions and 2 advanced directives. Probably 10-14 select all that apply. 1 picture (PPD shot) know I got that right, googled it!!!
I dont even know where to begin to study for the retake!!!
Man, besides myself right now....
paid another 200 and waiting for authorization to test and retake!!!
got to get back on the horse!!!!
also got 2 or 3 UAP delegation questions, also nursing assistants. I havent looked up to see if UAP's are different than nursing assistants......
mind is spinning.......
honestly, cant believe I failed......
80% was about highest priority, what would you do 1st, who would you call back first, see 1st. When would you intervene. I started at 8am was done at 920.
maybe i was too overconfident.....I honestly cant believe it.
Little background....
Stay at home dad, graduated in June, baby was 3months old then. Wife went back to work the monday after I graduated...
baby almost 6 months old now. Wife works full time and I stay home with her all day and I tried to study an hour or so at night. Same on the weekend...
After a 14hour+ day, hard to study and retain stuff.....
Anyways, I did the hurst review. I can honestly say my PN boards really didnt have much on there from hurst......
Really thought it was going to be good but the boards proved me wrong at least......
I actually thought the nclex was easy, boy was I wrong....
Im awaiting my report to show me where I was deficient, probably all over the place....
I think I know the content, whats getting me is I can usually narrow it down to 2 and then I screw it up....
Thats my dilemma. When I see a question that asks what disorder would cause constipation and I see hypothyroidism, I think those are easy...So the content, lab values, math (didnt get a one) are easy to me because I can memorize those......
Its the problem solving, the critical thinking that is getting me.......
I just ordered some delegation, prioritization, book see how that is......
Paid the 200, waiting for the ATT again......
I heard good things about kaplan and its decision tree, I bought the 2014 book but barely looked at it since I decided on hurst.....
I am all over the place.....Also used the saunders 4200 questions from the red book, I did about 2000 of them. The hurst review I got 3 tests, 1st one was 55%, 2nd was 59%, 3rd was 63%, I was steadily increasing.....
SAT's are not my favorite, I dont know really. I wish regardless of cost I could depend on one thing to get me through....
On a good note my mom is going to come over from 8am until noon every other day (MWF) and I can go to the college and study while she watches the baby. I think this will help me tremendously.....
So frustrated, feel like a complete loser and failure. 1st big test I ever didnt pass.
The TEAS test I scored 95%'ile for my school and 88%'ile in the nation....Just dont know how in the world I failed....So messed up right now I cant even think..........

If you don't mind me asking, did you try the PVT trick or you just waited for the quick results?
I did quick results.....
Okay, thanks for the reply. I'm going crazy waiting for my results and because I'm in California, I will not know officially until a few weeks.

I also failed my NCLEX..but for the second time!! So Im in a worse situation than you. Now I have to pay another 200 dollars AGAIN and I dont even know how I should study for this damn computer crap!!! I really think it is dumb how you need to get ABOVE passing for every single category before they deem you worthy as passing. >_> so If i get above passing in every area and near passing in only ONE, i automatically fail....ridiculous! its bad enough they have increased those silly SATA and medications for the new NCLEX. Do they enjoy seeing people fail, or is it because they can get more money in their pockets, thru failures(most likely both)
And yet the review programs ramble about how the NCLEX only tests us based on Minimum competence...minimum my ass!! Go tell that to countless folks who felt like they failed since they were guessing thru the questions, only to find out that they pass! what the hell??? And ironically, most of the things you will learn in nursing is through experience on the first few months working on the floor!! Im so annoyed. Cant believe after all that hardwork, finishing University, successfully getting into a Nursing program, working hard to pass and graduate with good grades, having a Second degree in Nursing.... only to be held back because of some cursed Computerized examination!!! I wouldnt be as ****** off if they didnt suck up my 200 dollars every damn time!! So much for prayers, hardwork and sacrifices:no:

Sound like me a little. Few differences for me:
I have a computer science degree and I am certified comptia in network+. Guess what, in my area, no one would even respond to me because I have no experience!!!!!
I said ok, my background is in management, I decided to get into the medical field. Explored literally every field you could think and shadowed most of them as well...My wife is director of nursing, shes been in nursing since high school (20 years). She has helped me but this test puzzled me.
I was top of my class until our baby was born in march (graduated 3 months later end of june) and I let my grades slide and didnt study as much.
We dont want to do daycare so the baby is now almost 6 months old and dad (me) stays home M-F with her and shes my life and I wouldnt have it any other way. But, I wanted to put this test behind me and I thought I aced it, I really did. I knew some I got wrong by talking to the wife and googling some but man, this has hit me hard.
Not trying to use the baby as an excuse but for the last 6 weeks shes been fussy teething, getting up from midnight till 5am wanting a bottle and then I have her from 6am (usualu wakeup) until 5pm when the wife gets home. Then, I try to study at 8pm when she goes to sleep.
14 hour days, trying to study, obviously didnt work for me.....So, my mom is now going to watch her from 8am till 11 or 12 and I can go to the local college where its quiet and really put the time in. I know the content, lab values, etc, I can memorize facts quite easily (apparent by my teas scores), but this test is not about that and thats where I need help!!!!!
I thought hurst review would do it but that was all content and it did help but it didnt prepare me at all for the types of questions I would get on the nclex.
I am now leaning towards kaplan classroom anywhere. Its expensive but I dont know what other alternative I have. My local tutor wants 30/hour and shes my LAST resort, want to try kaplan first and go from there.
I am making a new thread about HURST to warn others. They are trying to not give me my money back. I wont talk about it here but look for my other thread where I talk about it and the hassle they are giving me for my refund......

You can't seriously be for real with this....it's dumb to expect a nurse to show competency in all areas before granting licensure?
its bad enough they have increased those silly SATA and medications for the new NCLEX.
Medication questions are silly....and you want to be a nurse? SATA would seem to be testing ability to think critically and recognize multiple factors impacting a situation, and again, you think that's silly, but want to be a nurse?
Do they enjoy seeing people fail, or is it because they can get more money in their pockets, thru failures(most likely both)
This just sounds like an aggrieved child. Until you stop blaming everything outside yourself, you won't succeed.

Can you just do daycare until you take the test and pass it? After watching the baby all day long, it must be hard to focus on the review material. Do you have a friend/relative who you could pay to babysit till you pass the test?
Congrats on the new baby.
