I have just been accepted into the Seton RN residency and can answer any questions you may have. I will also be creating a post throughout my experience in the residency. Ask away!
Hello Seton cohort,
For those currently enrolled in the program, I was just wondering how your residency is going? Are you enjoying your classes? Do you fell the program is helping you to progress in your profession?
I am a nursing instructor teaching in an established residency program (not in Texas) and I always like to hear feedback from students. Specifically, what can we do better as curriculum developers and instructors? I know many of you fill out surveys before, during, and after the program, but these blogs are so much more helpful for the real qualitative/raw/honest information that doesn't force your feedback into a prescribed statement.
Any information would be helpful. I start the next cohort in May.
I haven't yet. I e-mailed them informing them I was in town this week (I go to college in PA but live in TX) and would like to interview with them if at all possible, but haven't got a reply. :/ My application was routed to four different hospitals now but it's been like that for 2-3 weeks.
I'm interviewing with St. David's this week, though. So that's a plus.
Hello!
I have read the past posts and saw how competitive it is to get a position. I am still hopeful. I have my eyes set on the critical care residency. Does anyone know about how many people apply to this particular area? I'm applying to the October cohort, and crossing my fingers tight!
Thank you and GL to everyone :)
What does it mean if your app was referred to a specific hospital after the final interview dates on the website? Is it kind of like a formality...like if you are qualified they will refer you even if there are no spots left? I applied pretty late in the game and had given up hope for the June cohort. I reapplied for the October cohort but have not heard anything regarding that application. Last Friday, I got an email saying my June cohort resume was forwarded/routed to Brack. Oh well....not getting my hopes up!
I'm aware that the OP posted this thread more than a year ago, so the likelihood of the OP replying to my question is slim.
Nonetheless, here goes :)
You mentioned that the resume was of utmost importance, but how do you distinguish yourself on that if you have little to no health-care related work experience? I'm in an accelerated nursing program in Texas, and before I started the program I had volunteer hours in a hospital, but I didn't work as a CNA or lab tech or anything like that. So many of my cohort, however, has. So I feel a bit despondent.
Any suggestions?
Hi!! I am going to be applying for the Feb 2013 Cohort and myself want to start in the OR. As of right now I am a LVN finishing up my RN soon this December. Do you know how much spots were open for the OR? I do plan on going to the open house on the 16th and would really really love to get my resume into the hands of the OR personnel. Also, how did the interview process go? Was it just one interview or did it consist of three? Sorry for the bombard of questions but just wanted heads up on how to make myself stand out other than open house and placing my resume in the hands of the manager! and Congrats I hope everything went well for you!

Yes klynette, I applied to the June cohort, too! Have you heard anything? When I log into the Seton careers website, it shows my application is still being processed. From what I read, the first round of interviews are the week of March 5th, which is this week! Nervous!
