Questions about Seton Versant RN Residency in Austin

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I have just been accepted into the Seton RN residency and can answer any questions you may have. I will also be creating a post throughout my experience in the residency. Ask away!

Yeah hopefully all goes well...my fingers are crossed! Do you have a specialty or unit that you are most interested in meeting the directors or just any unit?

I would LOVE Critical Care--specifically ICU--, but honestly, I will take anywhere they would hire me. I am realistic and know chances of getting in are slim, and chances of getting into critical care are even worse since the market is so tough here. How about you?

update: okay, so I got a message today saying my packet was reviewed on versant end and now ready for HR. Should get more directions from them in next 4-5 days. I am kind of getting this feeling like I am stepping onto a new amusement park ride. Don't know what's coming ahead for me...nervous and excited.....but hope the ride ends well!

Yay! excited for you! I am still waiting for versant end to review my stuff. I signed up for 3pm on open house day it will be fun to meet you guys! I just want a spot in the OR more than anything else, ER if not. But keep us updated okranurse :)

You do the same, ktlam. I think it helps us all gauge potential timelines as well. I expect you should be getting information soon since you said you submitted quickly, too. OR and ER? Well, I hope you end up with whichever makes you happiest. I thought about ER, but opted not to put a check by that. Still wondering if that was a wise decision, but I think I need more experience before I would feel seasoned enough for an ER in such a big city. Keep in touch.

I'm so excited and I hope to hear from HR by the end of the week as well since my application is also complete (step 1 down, 1 more to go!)

I hope other applicants come across this thread and chime in with additional helpful info. This thread has been great!

Hey everyone, I applied for Feb 2012 cohort a few days ago. Today, I noticed the entire application format was different (Career/Goals statement wasn't to be uploaded, but typed onto the application, etc.). I also didn't have to register the first time I applied. I did just now, but it's giving me a new application form. Any feedback on this?

Sorry, I can't really help since I applied before this new format. I checked it out as soon as I read your post, and indeed it is slightly different. I have not had to register. Hopefully, I will get more info about this later?

As far as I know I am still being reviewed by HR at this point in the game. Strange to change the process in the midst of application process though. I hope this doesn't result in anyone falling into the cracks. Anyone else know about this? Has me slightly concerned...

Yeah it does look slightly different and more confusing because the original format was so simple but okra nurse I am still waiting for my application to get reviewed by the resident office and than HR :(

Kltam, I can't recall if you had said that your packet was definitely complete...Also, did all of your references complete the form in the same timeframe that you had completed your portion? It is possible that they may have delayed you by a day or so. Also, there is no telling how many people applied in the course of a few minutes before your pushed submit. Try contacting Versant via phone or email to confirm they have everything. Otherwise, I am sorry to say it is just a matter of waiting. It is too early in the process to fret. There is probably nothing distinguishing my submission from yours other than minutes or hours, it seems, so I think a large applicant pool may be the culprit.

Yeah you are most right about them being swamped cause that is what the lady said in the email to me after she told me my application was complete and is in the waiting line to be reviewed. Im just kind of inpatient with these kind of things! I want results NOW! LOL even though its impossible. Hopefully I wish all of our stuff will be completed by open house with HR and what not so if managers like what they see they can automatically pull up our stuff after open house :)

I hope the switch in application process does not affect any of our applications as well.

Hi everyone!

I have also applied and am waiting on HR. I didn't realize this program was so competitive! I am currently in Cincinnati, OH but am moving to Austin with my boyfriend after graduation in December. I am trying to come down for the open house, but it is in the middle of my finals and clinical week.. eek! Luckily all of my professors are on board and I am just waiting to see if I can go to clinical on a different day.

Has anyone heard from HR yet?
