Questions about Seton Versant RN Residency in Austin

U.S.A. Texas

I have just been accepted into the Seton RN residency and can answer any questions you may have. I will also be creating a post throughout my experience in the residency. Ask away!

Hey everyone! Congrats on NCLEX and amazing jobs! I will be moving back to Austin once I am done with school this fall. I have started the job process but was wondering the time frame on everything. I know every unit is different, but about how long did it take for you to hear something back (both Seton and St. David's) once you submitted your app online? Thanks in advance!

Hey everybody! I have been reading the recent posts. That is so exciting that a lot of people got into the program. I graduate May 2015 with my BSN and have been doing a little research on Seton's residency program. I really want to work for Seton (great experiences from clinicals) but I know the competition is tough. I was wondering if for the ones who got hired had previous experience as techs, LVNs, or CNAs? I have been trying to get a job as a clinical assistant all summer but have had no luck. I am a little worried that this is going to put me at a disadvantage especially with the number of people graduating each semester from the multiple nursing programs here in Austin. Any advice on what would makes a strong candidate for a residency program? And congrats again to everybody for starting their RN careers!!!

@texasRN_14 or anyone else currently in the Seton Residency: I am graduating from nursing school in two weeks and am currently in the app process for Seton's Fall 2014 cohort. Does anyone have the hiring managers contact information for the ICU units at University Medical Center Brack, any other Seton Hospital ICU units and for the Trauma-Surgical Services Med/Surg Floors? I am from out of state and wasn't able to attend the open house earlier this month due to clinical. I don't want to miss out on this wonderful opportunity! How is it going so far? Congrats to all who got into the most recent cohort!

Also, if anyone has any status updates for the Seton Fall 2014 cohort app process that would be greatly appreciated! :)

Um hey! I hope those in the program still read this forum. I've had my eye on this residency since I started my nursing program (in Alabama, mind) and am finally about to graduate and able to apply. I know the chances are slim but am giving it my best shot. :) I was wondering, for those of you that got in, how did you do it? Is it hard to get an interview? I feel like if I actually get in to talk face-to-face, my chances will improve drastically... I'll be attending the open house but I can use any advice and help you can give. Thanks and congrats!

Hi Miami1981,

I hope this message finds you in good spirits. I just happened to come across your post while exploring job opportunities in Austin. Are you currently working at Seton? I am a newly licensed RN in the process of relocating to the Austin area from upstate NY with my family. My husband and I are both military veterans making our way into the world of civilian work. I have already secured a temp TX license. I will be applying to the new cohort which opens tomorrow. I would love to gain some insight on your experience over the last couple years and possibly some pointers. If you are still around. Please reply here and then hopefully we can exchange contact information. TIA

Is this a paid residency? If so, is it a stipend or hourly?

You will get paid your base hourly wage í ½í¸Š

can anyone who has interviewed for a position give us some idea about the type of interview questions you were asked? Thanks!

Specializes in Certified Nursing Assistant.

Planning to apply for October 17 cohort. I was wondering when open house would be since I do not live in the area and will need to plan accordingly! Thanks
