  1. I was told there were 15 people interviewed for the IMC position at Seton Medical Center, with 4 open positions.
  2. Did anyone get asked scenario questions at their IMC interviews where they tested knowledge? Or was it more to just get to know you?
  3. I haven't, but I will be shadowing some of the units when I go home for break, so that is my next step. I guess I will find out after that.
  4. By the way, if you have received the messages, does anyone know what C.W. stands for? Or whether C.W. is male or female? Please PM me. Thanks.
  5. Honestly, most of the questions were about items from my resume. It was a panel of unit managers. What I found strange was that you didn't know which units they represented--I even asked and they wouldn't say. Otherwise, they are relaxed, and don't come off as out to get you or anything. There were no hard-ball questions. It was a friendly, relaxed conversation.
  6. Email today says that all ICU candidates for an on-site interview will be contacted by the end of next week, and that some people have even already had theirs. Has anyone here had an interview for ICU already? How did it go?
  7. Just had a MedSurg interview, haven't heard anything from OR or Children's ED, and only messages from ICU manager as well.
  8. Thanks, BotoxBaby. It is in person. Having to fly in cuts into my tight budget, but I will have just finished my preceptorship and started my Thanksgiving break early so I can make it into a long trip visiting with the family. If I get the job, it will be well worth it.
  9. Thanks! I did both. I applied and handed a resume in at open house. They called me.
  10. Just scheduled it... I have an interview with Seton Medical Center Austin's Intermediate Care Unit! :) Can't wait!
  11. I had no idea that was how it worked, only that some units take longer than others. It helps to know that. I also got a call today to schedule the Medsurg interview by phone next week. Yes, she did seem to want to get these arranged as soon as possible. However, I must give her credit for how quick her turnaround is--I appreciate that. My first choice is not MedSurg as well, but I am not above doing things the old fashioned way and working my way up into my specialty of choice--just may take a little longer. Specialty would be icing on the cake, but I am just happy to be almost done with nursing school and potentially making a salary for a change :)
  12. mpihl: Have you heard anything from Children's ED? I have been listed as routed for a long time, it seems.
  13. Hey guys! So, I just wanted to add to the conversation about the Open House now that I am back in town. For those worried about having little experience in a specialty, I heard reps in the ICU units say--twice--they were more interested in finding a fit for the team--they want to like you...experience can always be gained on the unit. One particular team, however, also emphasized that they were looking for assertiveness. So, don't count yourselves out yet, and just hope you made an impression--though something hard to do in such short bursts between a sea of other people. And I guess I was expecting less people there, because I thought the 1pm slot was way crowded...some lines took 15-20 minutes to get to the front. Oh, and there was a guy, with friends in tow, who walked in late, asked me what line I was in, and proceeded to cut right in front of me just as I was about to finally move up to shake a hiring manager's hand. He said he wasn't applying until the next cohort, just wanted to see what it was like...so why be so cutthroat and rude? Couldn't believe it! HR staff was absolutely nice and helpful though.
  14. Sorry BotoxBaby, I don't know. I received an email from the Director of ICU recently, along with other ICU applicants. The ED position was posted a while after the ICU one, so I assume that it might be a while still for y'all.
  15. Thanks ktlam. Will email you next time. So excited guys! After my final skills checkoff tomorrow (basically draw any major skill out of a hat and should be able to assess, perform, and document properly), I will be on my way to the airport! Should be in Austin in time for dinner : )
