I have been looking for almost 4 months and still nothing. Right now, I am volunteering at Kaiser just to get my foot in the door. I am hoping that persistence and patience will eventually pay off. I have noticed that most people who have responded already have jobs. So how about a 6th question....

6.) What city/state are you currently living in?

I live in the California/Bay Area how about everyone else?

1. june 15, 2010

2. adn - currently in a bsn program

3. no, i've had a job for about four months now

4. i had a job before i sat boards

5. i was hired where i did my practicum as a student nurse. as a student, i hated clinicals in the hospital and knew i would never want to work at a hospital. however, the hospital where i did my practicum (and am now working) is a bit different. it's a critical access hospital which means we have very minimal resources in the building. it is two stories. the nursing unit is on the second floor and consists of 25 beds. it is a rehabilitation/med-swing unit. most patients are there because of joint replacements, but we do have a few medicals from the er or x-ferred from the main hospital. it's great. oh, and if you couldn't tell by my name, i am an rn so i do all the fun stuff.

So it looks like being an aide or an intern really helps to gets you hired as an RN.

4. if not, how long did it take you to find a job?still looking for that full time hospital job, i do have my fingers crossed for the state hospital, i interviewed with them 3 weeks ago and they are checking my refrences, but they told me that it would be 4-5 weeks before i heard anything

5. if you don't mind my asking, those who are working, what type of job or floor do you work on.my ideal job would be in my home ed where i have worked for 3 years as a cna2 and i did my practicium, there is an opening, but the manager was just replaced, but i have my fingers crossed that i get an interview

3. Are you still looking for work? :angthts: Yup. Been looking since late May/early June of this year. I've lost count of how many positions I've applied for; now I'm waiting to hear if I'm accepted into an ED RN Residency Program. Other than that, I'll keep looking and will take anything...oddly, many of the LTC places I've looked are seeking RNs with 1-2 years experience. I've also been proactive, went directly to nurse manager of my immersion unit, etc...Maybe I'm just going about it all wrong...?
