I see lots of posts about passing or failing with 75 questions, just curious what the stats are. I would like to think that nursing school prepares us enough that those who get 75 are mostly passing?

Oh that darn NCLEX. Had me goin CRAZY for 3 days!! But I passed with 75!!!!!

Thank you JESUS!!!!

I took the NCLEX last August and the machine shut off after 75. I was absolutely sure I had failed it miserably, but alas, I passed the test. To this day I still don't understand how I managed to pass, but I did. I am under the impression that within the test there are 15 brand new throw out questions that are put in there specifically just to test the actual questions (not the test taker). When I took the exam I felt as if I hadn't studied at all, when in fact I did over 2000 practice questions and a large review of materials that included psych, OB, delegation, basic lab values, pharmacology and Googling anything & everything that I didn't already know about. Someone said it in a much earlier post, with 75 questions you either aced the test, or bombed it. I was for sure I had bombed it. Yes, I have heard of people recently who failed with 75 and 85 questions, but I think most people with 75 pass (just a hunch). Best of luck to anyone out there about to go for it.

Tips I can give that I found helpful would be:

1 - Plan ahead and give yourself enough time to study and practice

2 - Do at least 2000 practice questions

3 - Review everything you can think of (know all of your basic lab values)

4 - Plan to make a day of the event

5 - Leave with enough time to get there early, the last thing you want before the exam is the stress of possibly being late.

6 - Go to the bathroom before entering the test

7 - I used the earplugs they gave me, as having to listen to all the other test takers typing away would have been a serious distraction for me. The earplugs caused me to hear my heart beat and breathing, but I found this less of a distraction than having to listen to the constant tapping of other people typing. Also, being able to hear my own heart beat and breathing allowed me to control my anxiety a bit as a sort of feedback loop.

8 - Make a plan to do something very fun afterward in order to distract yourself from the stress of the previous test experience. After the NCLEX, I was sure I failed and just wanted to throw myself under a bus, for the record, this is a very bad idea.

9 - I was told not to go with a friend and to just go by myself, I brought a friend with me who also took the exam and was glad I did. It was very comforting to have someone there afterward that was going through the exact same emotions as I was. She got an 85 and passed by the way.

10 - I was searching for a tenth tip, but all I can think of is study hard. Success is when preparation meets opportunity. Study

I just took the NCLEX last Friday and my computer shut off at 75 questions. I was so nervous and thought I failed. I found out on Sunday that I passed!!! :yeah:

I had 75 questions on NCLEX and passed.

I took the NCLEX on Friday at 8am. Shut off at 75 questions and I was in my car driving home at 8:30am. I thought I had failed FOR SURE. I definitely felt like I guessed on almost every single question and I studied my butt off!! Needless to say I was a mess. By 3pm the Indiana State Board of Nursing already had me on the website with an active nursing license!! I passed!! I have noo idea how I passed but all that matters is that I did!! : )

you can't guess that you haven't past at the end of the day we have all studied about nursing and when we take this test it's quite easy to pass if you have studied hard enough:D

First of all i am a licensed nurse of the phil, my 3-month review at kaplan ended by december 2008, I had high grades on my exams there. The center assessed that i am ready to take the exam...but my att arrived later months of 2009, it took so long to arrive (mailing service problem i guess) that i began my volunteer at a government hospital and reviewed less. And mind you, here is the situation in the government hospital I am in, the ratio of nurse and patient is no less than 1:5 and more than 1:20.. I was so tired after my duty hours. And so I took my exam last december 2009 because I was running out of time. I failed at 75. It was depressing but i did recover. I actually failed in pharmacology and reduction of risk potential out of 8 fields. I wasn't able to have my refresher's review before my exam, so I would recommend that anyone who is planning to take the exam:

focus on your review, take your exam right after your review or when the review center recommend's your performance rating, never forget the basics, and lastly be sure to secure your att before you finish your review.

I aim to take nclex again next year and i am planning well. Hope I can make it.

thanks for reading, congratz to all who passed and Good luck to all who are about to take the exam

more blessings for everyone =)

am i one of the few who walked away at 75, feeling like i aced it?

i was actually suspicious because the test was too darned easy.

NOT so in nsg school.

i struggled, second-guessed myself all the time.

so it's not like i'm used to feeling confident.

but with nclex, i would have been shocked to find out i failed.

thank you for this... i've been looking for a post like this...

i mean, it wasn't the easiest test ive ever taken; but it wasn't the hardest. sure, there were some i didn't know, but i felt there were more that i did know.

i got 75 and it shut off.

i don't feel like the test swallowed me whole, but i finished the test in less than one hour. o_O
