So, if for example there is a 2 dollar shift differential for working nights and a 3 dollar shift differential for working weekends, what if you work a weekend night? Does that mean you get 5 dollars total or do hospitals take the higher shift differential wage (3 dollars) and just use that.

You should be getting the combined differential for weekend nights, so yes an extra $5/hr.
Thanks. I was just wondering, because that can rack up the pay quite a bit!

I get $2.50/hr extra for working 3-11 shift. I also get $2.50/hr extra for working weekend. So yes a total of $5.00/hr extra for working weekend (3-11) and yep that adds up.

I think it depends on the facility you should ask HR. My hospital pays shift diffs for weekend and nights I dont get both but weekend nights is higher than weekday nights. During the week I get $3.00/hr extra for 3-11 and $4.00 for 11-7. Then weekend shift diff is $3.00 7-3, $6.00 3-11 and $7.00 11-7.

the differential is 2 for nights and 3.5 for weekends so on the weekends i make 5.5 in differentials for the night portion of my shift. (i work twelves) for the first four hours i make the pm differential.

It depends on where you work. My facility pays $4/hr more for 3-11 and $6/hr more for 11-7 on week days (Monday through Thursday). Anytime between Friday 7p and Monday 7a is considered 'weekend' and you're accorded weekend diff. Weekend nights (7p-7a) get a higher diff than weekend days (7a-7p), but both are higher than week day evening/night diff.

my hospital just makes it a simple $5 incentive for nights, no diff during week or weekend.

We get I think $2.00 more an hour for 7-11 and maybe $3 more for 11-7. We don't get any kind of differential for weekends though. We are required to work 4 weekend days month at our regular pay.

See if your hospital does weekend option. It is when you agree to work weekend nights with only 3 call outs a year. At my hospital they get paid 40% more.

Mine too. Weekend night shift is rarely looking to hire.

No one here is really going to be able to answer your question. At some facilities the differential might be combined, at some you might just get the weekend diff on the weekend, and at others there is no weekend diff.
Why don't you ask someone you work with.
