Yes, NSO (Nurses Service Organization)......very resonable for students and just about every nurse in every discipline.

It covers you through nursing school and throughout your nursing career.

We were given a flyer to get our insurance and they gave us ins for a year was 39.00 for students, i'm not sure what it is for license nurses/registered nurses though...here is the address and contact numer for the main branch, then we are sending our info to an ohio branch...might be worth a call...

I belive the poster is asking about health insurance (required by many schools for their students.)

Just an FYI, I changed the title to be more specific (original title: hello.) Hope you get some answers :).

Wow

20 dollars a year got to be a scam

i had insurance for the spring and summer by another company and it was 720

how can you be cover with 20 dollar insurance lol

As Nurse Ratched stated, the OP probably meant health insurance which is required by some schools.

One option to look into is short-term insurance to cover you for emergencies. According to a rep, there are many people that take this option and just renew. I believe that Assurant (soon to be Fortis) offers this. With a deductible of $1000, it costs about $450 for 100 days. Again, it is for emergencies, but it should suffice.

I paid $509.00 for health insurance for the entire year. It's not the greatest coverage, but all I need is the card saying I have it so I can start school. I've gone 2 years with no insurance, and a little is better than none. It was offered through my school. Check with admissions and see if your school offers this coverage.

Different job? There are many places that offer insurance to part time employees (now getting for your family is a diff matter! LOL)

I think Starbucks, Kinkos, Kroger, etc and I am pretty sure Olive Garden is Day 1 insurance.

I paid $20 for 1 year for malpratice insurance through NSO. Not health insurance. Health insurance (at least mine) cost much much more.

Have you checked your school health center? For us, it's $60 per semester for unlimited visits to our school health center. We are required to pay the $60 per semester no matter if we have outside health insurance or not, but that is a requirement for clinicals in case we get stuck by a needle or otherwise hurt while in clinical. For a good majority of NS students, that is their health insurance. This only covers minor stuff, but it's better than nothing.

Have you checked into a different part time job? I work 24 hrs/wk and I get pretty reasonable insurance for the entire family.
