Quality penlight?

Does anyone have any recommendations for a QUALITY penlight that won't stop working after two weeks?

You won't find much better than your bookstore, in my opinion. Not that they are quality; they're all crap. Our bookstore offered a cheaper disposable version (for about $3) and a silver, 'permanent' one for about $8 and I'm satisfied with the quality. I researched this quite a bit right before I began school and, while there were a few that people swore by, spending anything above $10 is about useless, in my opinion. If you head over to Amazon they all have negative reviews, even the 'upscale' ones.

I actually use a mini-maglite. It is small enough to hook to my name tag. It, also, came in handy when I had night clinicals and needed to see in the dark, without waking my patient. It was only about $5 on amazon. BTW...I went through 3 penlights in a year.

Mini-mag that takes 2 AAA batteries. Only problem is sometimes it's in your pocket or purse and it's "ON" and drains the batteries. (I always throw some extra AAA's in my bag-that-goes-to-work-with-me. Problem solved.

Mini mag light it is. Thanks everyone!

Good day, fteralynn3:

May I ask the name and brand of the mini mag light you use?

Thank you.

I am switching to a mini-mag for next semester. I never thought of using one until one of the RNs at clinicals whipped one out to do a neuro check. I swear I should have bought stock in Energizer with all the darn batteries I've gone through with those penlights!

I got a pack of 6 pen lights for like $12 delivered on amazon. If it dies I throw it away and grab a new one. I also find that the kind where you push in the little pocket clip to turn them on are better than the ones with a regular on/off switch so they don't end up accidentally being turned on in a pocket and killing the battery.
