there are so many rumors that come out of manila on a daily basis, that i am going to take the time to post this, so please take the time to read it. it is crazy with the amount of pms and e-mails that i get because no one bothers to do any reading first, and relies only on the rumors floating around the country.
1. the us government doe not require that you pass the local exam for immigration purposes.
2. most states do not require that you take the local exam for licensure.
3. cgfns exam requires that you take and pass the local exam, but most states no longer require the exam.
4. if you are not already in final process of waiting for the embassy interview, there will not be any of the 50,000 visas available for you, the cut-off date tentatively for october is for the actual visa, not for when your petition was submitted. the visa numbers are counted noly when they are actually issued, not any time before that.
5. if immigration requires that you take the english exams, then they are not waived for you if a state requires them.
6. most states that have requirements want the toefl exam and they do not accept the ielts series. you will need to pass the toefl exam before you will be permitted to sit for an exam.
7. if you are in the us on a tourist visa, there is no automatic extension granted to you if you pass the nclex exam. and applying for any type of extension on that visa, will most likely get you sent home. it is extremely difficult to get an extension, and if they deny it, you will have no choice but to leave the country, even if you get a job offer. the attorneys that are telling you otherwise are only interested in collecting their fee from you, it makes no difference what happens to you as long as they file that petition for you. and they are not doing it for free.
8. do not let your visa fall out of status, no matter what your firends tell you. it is grounds for deportation if immigration so decides. and no return for ten years.
any questions concerning this needs to get posted on the international forum, not on this forum. i am posting this here, since so many of you are continuing to ask the same questions over and over again without reading first.
please take the time to read "thr primer" that is at the top of the international forum before you consider posting.
tagalog is not permitted in any post, and will be deleted. english is the only language that is to be used.
im quite aware that without a local license, i wouldnt be able to take the cgfns exam... what im trying to ask is IF ever the courts would lift the temporary restraining order and allow us to register and go on with our oathtaking, meaning IF the courts finally rule that we be given our licences, do you think it would do any good if i take the cgfns exam just so i can prove my competency?ill be more than willing to sit for a retake if the courts would decide for a retake. BUT if the courts rule in our favor and grant us our licences, my plan is to take and pass the cgfns so i would have a better chance for the nclex
im not sure if this is wise, or im just plain nuts for throwing away dollars for the cgfns exam even if its not really needed for vermont... im playing "what ifs" again but as i said i just want to think ahead... If the courts decide to give us our licenses, what do you think of my plan?
Throwing out good money and a complete waste of time. First, CGFNS will not give you permission to sit for that exam until an actual license is issued, and I foresee it being in the courts for some time, easiest and fastest route would be to retake the exam in December and just go on with things. CGFNS exam does not mean anything over here. It is not required in most states, and most employers could care less about it.
Best bet is to test in December.
sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this might not be possible.best bet is to test in december.
http://newsinfo.inq7.net/topstories/topstories/view_article.php?article_id=19332with board of nursing unfilled: 60,000 grads may have no nursing exams in december
(prc chief rejects p14m retake budget)
"an estimated 60,000 nursing graduates may not have any licensure examinations to take this december because the board of nursing remained vacant as of wednesday, four months before the scheduled tests."
"after the hearing, rosero told reporters that the preparation of the 500 test questions for the five subjects covered by the nursing board usually takes six months."
http://www.manilatimes.net/national/2006/sept/07/yehey/top_stories/20060907top3.htmldecember nursing test in jeopardy
"the nursing licensure examination scheduled for december might be called off because no one at the professional regulatory commission's board of nursing is preparing the test questions."
maybe it'll be best to apply for and pass the nclex instead, and hope they issue the att...otherwise things might get bogged down while the courts decide the case.
i hope they resolve the issues soon.
I think applicants who passed the June 2006 NLE who wants to apply for eligibilty should contact their respective State BON first and ask. No hurt in asking 1st. This way.. no waste of effort and money and you'll be getting it directly to the horse's mouth. If they say yes, no problem. If they say no...
Two other issues that you need to consider before doing anything. CGFNS is in control of the Visa Screen Certificate and they cannot issue that certificate without verification of a license number. And you cannot fail to report that you took the exam, especially if you were listed as passing it. But there is no license to verifiy.
So, right now, even with passing, there is no way to come to the US until something is done.
i hope the december 2006 nle pushes through, for everybody's sake.
http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/storypage.aspx?storyid=49701prc won't cancel december nursing exam
the nursing licensure examination (nle) for december will go on as scheduled, the professional regulation commission said thursday.
"if ever we fail to get board examiners [to prepare the questions], we have other means to give the examination," prc chairwoman leonor-tripon rosero told abs-cbn's magandang umaga pilipinas.
some 60,000 examinees are expected to take the december exam, including 25,000 who failed the june tests.
a retest would likely happen if the court of appeals and eventually the supreme court decide to order one. rosero said the retake would likely happen in the middle of 2007 since the court proceedings will take longer to resolve.
rosero had said that it's impossible to identify examinees that benefited in the leakage of the june examinations.
considering how the courts here takes painfully slow movements before giving their judgments makes me puke. I'm just thanksful that the elder sister of my wife who is in London is supporting my children.
PRC leans hardly on the no-retake stance. Then they should mail those damn license numbers to other countries so that it will be verified by the proper authorities. Then we can take the nclex and after passing it, I can contemplate on my next move.
I'll starve if the retake will be in the middle of 2007. Who knows, it will be in 2008. We need a major overhaul, but it is highly unlikely here.
Starving dad..

il keep in mind what you said suzanne...i've been reading a lot of goodstuff from this forum and you've been very helpful...and i admire your patience handling questions esp those you've already answered in other threads....
well, I'm trying really hard not to regret that I even let myself take the NLE...i guess its for family pride, that sort of thing...its really a big deal here to pass the NLE (or any other board exam) even if you dont intend to do nursing work...its more like you get this feeling that you owe it to your parents (or whoever is paying for your tuition) to have your name printed in major newspapers for everybody to see... it really is not a practical choice taking the NLE but its something you choose to do because you know it would make people special to you happy and proud in case you pass it. Now im paying dearly for it.
i do hope vermont would let me sit for the nclex despite the mess here in manila but im keeping my application on hold and would heed lawrence's advise to write the vermont BON and ask them directly first before sending my application... i already bought the saunders comprehensive book and started answering the review questions at the end of the chapter, just as you suggested in one thread...

Also, we haven't heard anything from ICHP (Visa Screen) if they will be honoring the licenses from the recent NLE because part of the Visa Screen process is validating your local licenses.
All this talk about re-take or not will most prob. lie on what decision would ICHP make re: this issue.
If we put ourselves in the shoes of ICHP what would we do?

ICHP cannot issue a VSC, as they must validate the results from the NLE exam and they are unable to do so. They cannot honor a license that has not been issued, and none have. Until there is a decision made in the courts, PRC cannot do anything to verify the exam. If the exam was written, it must be listed, and there is no result yet to verify, so nothing can be issued.
There are already news that the Dec. 2006 exams will push through and that 20,000 has so far registered and a handful from the June 2006 batch passers registered as well.
Those who passed and chose the re-take have signed a waiver that their June 2006 results will be nullified if they re-take. This is most prob. the best decision they ever made. It's just barely 3 1/2 mos before the next NLE. Those who will re-take in dec. and passes can immediately apply for eligibility for NCLEX, the CES or CGFNS Certification (where applicable) w/o a fuss what so ever.
The way things are going over the diff. investigations, esp. the senate, where the senators are already fed up w/ the PRC Chairperson for not showing up on their inquiries, things are not looking bright.
