Good grief. America's Frontline Doctors, a group of quacks who claim to know more than actual experts are pushing the use of ineffective parasite med to prevent and or treat COVID.

On a personal note, my hubby works for a farm store and has overheard customers explaining to each other how to dose animal wormer for people. This is in a community that is anti-mask, anti-vaccine, let's just all get infected. Up until, you know, they need hospitalization .

There are other studies that are ongoing and they are listed on Clinical Trials gov though they are not backed by the FDA I found the site from the FDA page on Ivermection.

Every time they report on someone claiming the drug works, ( I have saved articles that shows this from) they only talk or write about it as the over the counter horse meds, they don't mention the person got it from a doctor and sadly people go out and buy the one meant for horses because the media only talked about that the horse one and they think that is one they need to buy. This is mis information by the media and they should be ashamed. While I am not saying the drug should be used to treat COVID ( I also have to repeat this line every time because someone will always agrue back well it is not approved, which I know) I believe the full information should be reported on the stories.
Case in point is the judge story, on 2 news articles about it the drug meant for horses was in the picture, so some people might think that was the one the judge orded, again mis information and it is sad and I feel bad for the people that buy the one meant for horses.
Sorry meant to say the FDA shows links to studies currently being done
That's why the media needs to learn what to feed people publicly.

This thread is about dumb people seeking out sources for ivermectin to treat or prevent covid illness. Who is being disingenuous?
Yes, we know that social media and irresponsible journalism is to blame for misleading those who refuse to vaccinate.

Yes change the subject. Again. Thank you. social media and irresponsible journalism is to blame for some of who don't want to get vaccinated because the reason they don't want it isn't correct or true. I agree with that as well because they don't give people all the information.

People are seeking information about covid and vaccination from many inappropriate media outlets and anonymous experts. This thread is about one of those weird quackadoodle trends that has harmed gullible people.

when a medication is used off label its usually because there is some significant evidence that supports its use.
Eg tegretol, carbamazapine, epilum have proven efficacy in the treating bipolar disorder.
Morphine is used in treating shortness of breath in patients with breathing issues such as COPD.
The studies that show ivermectin has some benefits in treating covid all say the same thing, randomised controlled studies are required to prove whether the results from the initial studies are replicable.

Then why am I reading reports of people going into veterinary stores trying to buy invermectin?

Fox News hosts, such as Laura Ingraham, have been promoting ivermectin since mid August. Plus I've seen facebook posts from neighbors promoting it, citing the "Front Line Covid-19 Critical Care Alliance" it's use. In the USA at least, the human formulation is prescription only, and few providers are willing to prescribe it.
So a work around, is buying what looks like the same thing at farm supply stores, over the counter. I am not a Reddit user, but I understand there are groups on it that tell people how to dose and take it. Apparently it tastes awful, so one can mix it with strawberry jam and spread it on toast. Clerks in one of my husband's stores overheard 1 customer tell another that you can mix it in water and rub it on your skin.
So has the media been conflating human and animal formulation? Yeah, but I think people were taking it before major news outlets reported on it.

QuoteDr. McElyea said patients are packing his eastern and southeastern Oklahoma hospitals after taking ivermectin doses meant for a full-sized horse, because they believed false claims the horse de-wormer could fight COVID-19.

Rolling Stone Magazine was the first place this story appeared. They have since came out with an update to their story. This was false news. Not supprised to see it used here though. Even the picture that went with the story on their Twitter post about this was fake. It has been shown to be a picture from Jan

Yes, I know on Clinical Trial gov there are numerous studies that are ongoing for the treatment of this drug. I don't know if it helpful or not, since it is still being studied. But I agree with what you had to say.
