Psych NPs working in California, what is your salary?

Updated:   Published

Gauging the current market for psych NPs in California. I plan to return to school for postgraduate degree in psych.

Also, please share your benefits package.

Thanks!

I'm not a psych NP but a friend of mine who took a job in San Jose was offered $175,000 a year plus full set of benefits working 4 10 hour shifts a week, 3 weeks paid vaca, full medical/dental, 401k.

She was a FNP who got a PMHNP certificate. Started two months ago.

Was this outpatient?

Specializes in Psychiatric and Mental Health NP (PMHNP).

In 2018, a facility in Redding (low cost of living) was paying between $160K and $190K, plus a bonus.

A friend Of mine got an inpatient job at a local hospital starting at $211,000. This is in the San Diego area otherwise I know of several offering $160,00 with full benefits.

Isn't that about what staff nurses in the area make though?

If 175K a year = $93/hr (based on a 36-hr week), over here where I work, that would be a Nurse II with 30 years experience or a Nurse III with 20 years experience. However, it only takes an NP II 4.5 years here to reach that salary. That is based on our union contract. In our institution, years of experience is cumulative which means total RN + NP experience which would benefit new NP's with years of RN experience.

Specializes in Psych NP student.

Here is the pay in Kaiser Norcal. for both NP and RNIMG_6812.thumb.jpeg.437ccf6569ad623df4407da718ffeded.jpeg

This was 2017, so the new 2020 is about 7 dollars more on each
