It is pretty much certain that there will be a resurgence/second wave of COVID-19. Will the government invest as much on healthcare workers fighting the COVID war as they do on the police?

You mean, will the government borrow more money in order to fund grandiose programs it can't afford, while our economy collapses?

I believe in most cases it is the responsibility of each Healthcare facility to provide needed materials (including PPE) for their employees. It is the job of Gov to provide cops their gear. The Gov should only step in and assist private HC when/if needed. The Healthcare facilities should be stocking up now, and should have also done so previously. It should not fall on already taxed enough citizens to cover the incompetence of hospital/facility management.

As opposed to borrowing money to maintain a bloated military and national policing and prison system while Americans live in oppression and poverty?

The current administration halted requirements for hospitals to prepare for a pandemic...

Hmmmmm......This is a misleading portrayal of the costs, come on now.....

Break down the numbers and how long each item is used or reused.

times what you are protecting against ,a brick ,a gun, a deadly virus, death in all its shapes and forms, who even knows anymore.

So... what you're saying is that our military should not spend adequately on defending the country because there are people living in oppression and poverty? This is not a third world country so I doubt these people living in oppression/poverty have no help whatsoever.

Great point. The PPEs are for staff/patients. I'm sure the overall cost is more than the shields/helmets used by law enforcement/military to protect citizens.

Is that what my words conveyed to you? Interesting.

Please explain why it is "pretty much certain" there will be a second wave/resurgence of COVID. I have yet to see any evidence this is the case, and you provided none, just made a bald assertion.

A recent study finds the virus may be mutating into a weaker strain. While disputed, it is certainly an interesting finding.

Currently the virus is not weaker, in general, and the science is pretty confident that just like with any other nasty contagion, this COVID is going to cycle in waves. Until we have an effective vaccine, breaks in basic mitigation will lead to outbreaks. I agree that the science suggests that it will end up being not as dangerous...meanwhile.

"Science" has been wrong numerous times with regard to COVID. That is because it is no new. So I would view any claims with healthy skepticism at this point. Yes, there could be a 2nd wave, but that is hardly certain or settled science. We might not have a 2nd wave. At this point, we don't know.

Study: 100% face mask use could crush second, third COVID-19 wave

To ward off resurgences, the reproduction number for the virus (the average number of people who will contract it from one infected person) needs to drop below 1.0. Researchers don’t believe that’s achievable with lockdowns alone. However, a combination of lockdowns and widespread mask compliance might do the trick...

... “We show that, when face masks are used by the public all the time (not just from when symptoms first appear), the effective reproduction number, Re, can be decreased below 1, leading to the mitigation of epidemic spread,”...
