Need ideas ONLY for controversial problems or issues on today's college campuses
smoking on campus!! its a real problem at my school and I would imagine most schools...the student smokers congregate at the entranceway of all the buildings and the rest of us are forced to walk through all the second hand smoke bc we have to get into the building for class.

I hate nursing school....really thinking about leaving?
wow, I could have written your post! so many commonalities! Psychology is my 1st love but bottom line, a BA in Psych gets you nowhere and no $$. I would so love to counsel but it requires at least a Masters (lots of money invested) and after tons of research on a Masters in School Counseling, I learned there are no jobs to be had, its all political and the pay is only around $50k. Thats also the going salary for any other Counseling job w/a Masters. Thats not enough when Ill prob have a $600/mo student loan bill after I finish my Masters. I want Nursing school to work out but I am not grasping this format of testing AT ALL. I am struggling like crazy in the same way you are, came in w/a 3.9 GPA and am failing. Im not passionate about Nursing, not crazy about being around sick ppl in the hospital but Im doing it bc I like to help ppl #1 and I know if I hate one area of it, there are so many other areas of nursing to explore and lets be very honest, its a good salary for the time and tuition invested. I am in the same boat with you. Good luck!!

3.9 GPA, cant pass Nursing school tests!???
Im ready to give up. I failed another test. I have done what some have suggested and gone over tests during office hours. I feel like Im too overanalytical, at the time I can see the reasoning for at least 2 answers. Its awful. I am so bummed...:((

3.9 GPA, cant pass Nursing school tests!???
I am at a loss for words. I dont know what to do anymore. I came into the RN program with a 3.9 GPA. I am SHOCKED that I am on the verge of failing my 2nd semester of Nursing school. I study my class notes, Powerpoints, I have 4 NCLEX review books I study as well. I cannot pass the tests. I am begining to think it is my naturally 'overanalytical' mind that is keeping me from doing well on these tests. I think I overthink the answers. And if this is the case, how do I overcome that? As you know, these are not tests based on fact and one answer is right. I find it impossibe! What to do??? Any advice is appreciated!

If you FAIL a semester, how many chances do you get to finish?
I wish I had researched my school a little better before I entered the program. They apparently have a HUGE fail out rate. Maybe thats why theyre not accredited?? I think they lost 12. In semester one, we lost about 10 people and semester 3 is supposively the killer when they are guaranteed to lose about 7 or so. Hate my program.

dangerous driving conditions and work
I dont know where you live but teh winters where I live you can def put your life in danger driving on certain days. Ever hear of black ice? Blizzards? Im scared to drive in teh rain much less when there is a major storm and Im being told I have to drive to work? no way. I wouldnt take a job like that. so yes my safety is #1 but I also wouldnt take a job that required you to be there outside of your normal hours and didnt compensate you for it. Ive never heard of that before. Def a Drs office for me.

dangerous driving conditions and work
this is why i will never work as a hospital nurse. I know ppl's lives are depending on our care but what about our lives? I will never put my life at risk for my job. Getting there 8 hours early so I can assure to make my shift and not get paid for that? no way, id never do it. here's to working in DRs office then!

CONFUSED...I thought 1 yr into a 2yr RN program, you can b LPN???
I was under the impression that after you complete 1 year of a 2 yr RN program, you can take the exam to become an LPN?? I looked it up online and some sites say yes you can but my instructors said they dont do that anymore?? Whats the deal?
-
dangerous driving conditions and work
So in the case of the storm that just came your way, you had to go in a whole day early???? and did they compensate you for those 24 extra hours?
-
dangerous driving conditions and work
Curious, when your state declares a weather emergency due to ice/snow as it just did and suggests only driving in the case of an emergency, what do you do if youre scheduled to work your hospital shift?

for RN to BSN, does it matter if your school is not accredited by NLN?
Im wondering if anyone can tell me based on their experience if they have come across any online RN to BSN programs that required accreditation by the National League for Nursing (NLN)???

NS test tips
Im about to go back to NS for my 2nd semester after doing horrible my 1st and was wondering if anyone has any tips/insight in regards to the way test questions are asked and answered in NS. I find their 'critical thinking' style of testing INCREDIBLY hard and I was wondering what tricks/tips those of you that are SUCESSFUL at tests use??? Ive heard people say ABC's, or if its an assessment question its an assessment answer, so on and so forth, etc..
-
Anatomy harder than nursing school classes?
No way, AP 1 and AP 2 was a cake walk compared to NS. I only wish it were like that. AP's tests are mostly memorization. NS is memorization PLUS critical thinking and the critical thinking part is the KILLER

going back to nursing school in 2 weeks is like going into the dreaded pit of ****
Im going into my 2nd semester. I barely passed my 1st and whats scares me the most is they said 1st is the easiet and that 3rd (Med/Surg) is the 'weed-out' semester. If I was that stressed and barely made it through 1st, what is this next semester going to be like not to mention the most dreaded, 3rd?
