hmmm well I guess another thread called sharp new grad info is wrong then lol....
  2. Sharp New Grad Residency Winter 2010/2011

I understand you worked hard for your position and I am sure you are great. But I remember seeing in another post you didnt have to interview for your position and that the manager created a job for you. sounds like you knew someone. Im not trying to...
  3. Sharp New Grad Residency Winter 2010/2011

I dont think I am junk either but I was saying that employers think we are junk. You were lucky to know someone to get your job thats different. For someone with no connections and a ADN it is difficult.
  4. Sharp New Grad Residency Winter 2010/2011

I heard the same thing from someone in the ER. I also heard 1600 applicants system wide. To the comment dont sell yourself short bc of a ADN. All the ADNs I see on this site that have jobs seem to have been EMTs, LVNs or something along those lines ...
  5. Planning advice needed

I would also plan for possibly not having a job like most of us new grads across the country. I would say if you can afford to have kids now do it or if you are lucky enough to even get a job right away you will probably work difficult hours to rais...
  6. Sharp New Grad Residency Winter 2010/2011

    Very nice good luck :)
  7. HR becoming pickier?

I know this will make many of the new grads here vomit as it almost did to me. I know of two new grads that got jobs at a local well known hospital both with terrible GPAs and failed a class and had to repeat a second year. One even failed the NCLEX ...
  8. Look up truthfornurses. She is going to use budget savings to produce more New grad Nurses because California has a NURSING SHORTAGE...lovely...
  9. Since we cant get nursing jobs...

What other jobs can we get in the medical field. I cant go back to my assistant job. Every other medical job it seems I cant get hired because of the RN license. So what now? Can I go to EMT school or will I be denied for that too. Its not like EMTs ...
  10. New Grads and Resumes

I would like to participate too. I have been told I had a good resume before but since I havent received any call backs I changed it a lot. Thx
  11. About transgendered patients

This is interesting I actually had a conversation about this with a friend that has many transgendered friends. They told me the person is either pre-op or post-op simple as that. So if its a male transitioning to a female. She is pre-op female and e...
  12. Advice needed:go for an RN or straight for a MSN?

I would try and get a job in the medical field somewhere and get your feet wet and stay working there at least part time in school. If you have no experience at all once you finish nursing school you are more than likely to be stuck without a job.
  13. Types of jobs for RN vs BSN/MSN...?

Its worth it if you want to be specialized in a certain area. Need masters to get to CRNA if thats what you really want. If its for the money there are no jobs. with the nursing excess right now if thats how you are choosing the profession probably n...
  14. BSN's REQUIRED to get a job??

Get the BSN from a reputable school. Unfortunately us ADNs arent getting even less offers than BSNs and getting your ADN to BSN is a pain. At least to me it is. I am doing it now with no job. working as a ADN and get your BSN is wishing thinking nowa...
  15. sc0628, I doubt there is really a big decision to make which has a better job outlook. PT has a hard time finding jobs too. I have a cousin that spend a long time looking for a job in CA, only to move to Oregon in a small town to work as PT. At least...
  16. What would you do differently?

In my situation I would have moved out of state to get my BSN. Apparently ADN equals no job unless you know someone even if you have a lot of volunteering and certifications. I wanted to stay close to home so I did the ADN. I know BSNs are having a h...
  17. Got Any Tips For An ER Interview?

I hope you get it good luck!:)
  18. New Grad RN need not apply

If you read the rest of this posting or other similar postings you will see the problem. 20 jobs with 1000 applicants or something like that. Unless you already have some type of background like LVN it will be difficult. When you finish nursing schoo...
  19. New Grad RN need not apply

If you really read what the jobs are they have the word "new" and "graduate" in the posting somewhere thats why it shows up doesnt mean they take new grad rns . Also the majority of these jobs are agency listings and most of them do not take new grad...
  20. New Grad RN need not apply

Try applying for these positions you will see what we are talking about. Maybe there is a job but there are like 1000 applicants. Most of us cant even land an interview despite having a good resume because of it. I have applied to Those places in Ren...
  21. New Grad RN need not apply

oh well sorry. I do live in CA. But I am also looking for jobs in NV, AZ, TX and NM.
  22. New Grad RN need not apply

  23. Are new graduate RN's being hired in Orange County, CA?

Yikes I was actually talking about OP's comment. Anyway I agree with CAliotter. I was in you shoes last January I started my job search earlier, started applying, etc. etc. It didnt do much good. It only stressed me out a bit until I realized I neede...
  24. RN TO BSN should I put it on my resume?

Hello, I am getting conflicting opinions on putting BSN in progress on resumes? Should I just leave it off? I have heard that employers want BSN but dont want ADNs with BSN in progress resume or cover letter Im confused ;(. Is it better to put ADN on...
  25. Trying to avoid undesirable CNA duties

girtent- I dont remember where I saw you posted but CNA's DO know the diseases pts have or at least they do in CA and in several states I know of. Even thou you use standard precautions for everyone it is always important to know if patient X has MRS...
