Hello,

I am getting conflicting opinions on putting BSN in progress on resumes? Should I just leave it off? I have heard that employers want BSN but dont want ADNs with BSN in progress resume or cover letter Im confused ;(. Is it better to put ADN only and not mention you are continuing at all? Im sure others are probably in the same boat as me. Thx in advance.

I'm not sure why they wouldn't want to know that you're furthering your education.

I've read some job postings that state that they prefer either BSN's or RN's that are currently enrolled in BSN classes. Based on that I would say it is worth putting on your resume.

I can't think of any reason to NOT include it. Unless you know something special about a particular employer who definitely does not want a BSN, include it. It shows you are taking action to learn more and upgrade your education. It says good things about you, not bad things.

Edit: I can think of one possible down side -- and that is if you are going to make lots of schedule demands because of your school committment. But if that's the case, it's a much bigger issue and you'll need to work that out before you take the job any way.

Or another thought -- that you might be after their job when you have your BSN! LOL!! :D

thx for the all replies. So far I have been putting on my resumes no luck yet. But Im still going ;)

This is sort of related...I recently passed the NCLEX and will have my license active on Aug. 19th. How would/Should I mention that on my resume and cover letter?

Any input would be appreciated - thanks! :)
