Sound OFF-- What schools haven't notified Accepted students YET?
Oh well...I didn't get in. It's okay though because I really figured my not having taken Math yet would be a negative. I'll try again next time.

Sound OFF-- What schools haven't notified Accepted students YET?
I've just found out that notifications have been mailed & that we should know 'any day now'! I'm considering stalking my mailman!! Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure I'll either not be accepted or be on the waiting list due to a math issue. Either way, I want to know now!!

I AM SOOOO Scared!!!
I am 37 with 4 kids and am finishing up with Micro this quarter. I was petrified as well because it had been so long since I was in school! Looks like everyone has given you GREAT advice because I did everything they said to get through my A&Ps. I took pics of lab models, made copies of diagrams in our text, used white-out on the labels, and made multiple copies so I could diagram on my own. This helped tremendously! Our text had an awesome website & I googled online quizzes. Good luck!

My HESI scores
My point exactly! I feel 20 years older than I am because I work full-time and I'm a divorced mother of 4 daughters! I have to admit, my girls do help me study sometimes. I make flash cards & it's a hoot watching my 8 year old twins trying to pronounce some of the terms!

My HESI scores
Thanks everyone...I hate the 82 in Math, but I'm old & can't even begin to remember the last time I had to convert pints, oz, gallons, etc...!
-
My HESI scores
No one here by that name! I've heard the TEAS & the NET are both more difficult than the HESI if it makes you feel better!

My HESI scores
Thanks. They wouldn't give us a printout!

My HESI scores
I just took the HESIa2 this morning. My grades were all good expect Math! I don't have access to the cumulative grade yet, my these were my individual scores: Grammar 96 Reading 93 Vocab 88 Math 82. Does anyone know if they average scores like normal which would be a 91, or if one section outweighs another? Thanks!

Microbiology: Spring 2010
I started Micro this past Monday with one of my favorite teachers. We're using Microbiology: A Systems Approach. McGraw-Hill has an awesome website for their books! Online tests, animations, you name it...

Nursing Application & Letters of Reference
Oh, that's good to know! I'll be sure to check before I send them.

Nursing Application & Letters of Reference
Thanks guys. I thought it was odd that the 2 nursing programs that I'm applying to only have very simple applications so I guess I'll send my letters in after I complete the app!

Nursing Application & Letters of Reference
I'm curious if anyone has submitted a letter of reference with their nursing application and whether you thought it was helpful. I currently work for a well-known sleep lab and both the district manager (BA) and our medical director (he's a neurologist and is board-certified in sleep) have given me letters. I also thought about asking one of my professors for one. Thanks!

Did you focus on one school or did u apply to many different programs?
I only have 2 schools near me that offer the ADN, so I'm applying to both of them this month. They both have pretty much the same pre-reqs, but both require different entrance exams.

Great Hesi A2 Practice Site
I, too, would really appreciate the HESI a2 study guide!

Help! NET & HESI a2
Thank you SO much!!

Help! NET & HESI a2
I'm applying to two different schools which both offer the ADN. The problem is one requires the HESIa2 entrance exam and the other requires the NET. Any advice or study tips? Thanks!

Alzheimer's in my family
I know exactly how you feel. My Dad is currently 62 and he was dx w-Alzheimer's at age 58. After becoming incontinent, his wife (my step-mom), decided she couldn't handle him anymore. I've had custody of him for 3 weeks now and we've been through 2 nursing homes & 2 hospital stays. It's very difficult to find a happy medium: something between avoiding combative & aggresive behavior and being so drugged up that he can't walk straight. It's extremely difficult seeing my Dad in a nursing home & I feel even more guilty every time I leave him there, but I know that I can't provide what he needs.

What are my chances? GPA
Thanks! I was beginning to think I was the only one here who ever might've gotten a C. :) I finally got my grade though, and it was a solid B!! My 4.0 is gone, but I can live with a B!!

What are my chances? GPA
I'm waiting on pins & needles for my final grade in A&PII. My instructor promised she'd have our final grades in this morning, but here it is 1:37pm & no grade! Anyway, up until now, I've had a 4.0, but I'm afraid I'm going to wind up with a C in this class. Has anyone actually been accepted to a nursing program with a C in A&PII?

A&P 2 Study Group/ Q&A for Fall 2009
Although my A&P2 class doesn't start for a few more weeks, I'm all for this group! I too have a 4.0 so far, and I want to keep it that way! We'll be studying the same topics: Endocrine, Reproductive, Cardio, etc..., so I think we'll all be able to help each other out!

For A&P1, what are LAB PRACTICALS/TESTS like??
I just finished A&P1 and was disappointed because the labs were pretty boring...we didn't dissect anything! However, we had two lab practicals which counted as 30% of our final grade. Our first was on mainly on bones. My teacher had our lab set up in stations: there were about 30 stations with a bone with a sticky dot on the portion of the bone we were to identify and an index card asking questions about it; there were also about 10 stations that had microscopes & we'd identify the tissue types and they also had index cards with questions. Our second practical was on muscles and it was much easier! My teacher told us she would be using the pictures right out of the book, so I copied all the pages with muscles, used White-Out to cover the names, and made several copies so that I could label the muscles myself. I made a much better grade on that one! If I can come out of a science class with an A, I'm sure you'll have no problem! I've been out of school for over 20 years and didn't even complete high school, so all of this was new to me. Good luck!

Middle Ga. College vs. Macon State
Good luck with your program! I'd love to know what your first semester schedule is. I know at MCG, only one nursing course per semester is allowed. I live in Milledgeville so driving to either college would be about the same time/distance.

Middle Ga. College vs. Macon State
Thank you so much for the info! I have a friend who graduated from MSC this past May and said it was awful. She has a friend who is attending MGC and said it was so much better. See my confusion? I just finished up with A&P1 (4.0) and will be beginning A&P2 in a few weeks. I guess it wouldn't hurt to apply to both & see if I get in either one of them. Please keep me posted on your progress once you begin the program....I still have a little time before I apply! Thanks again....there don't seem to be many on this site in our area.

studying for a&p before the semester even started
I just finished A&P1 with an A...it was hard, but obviously possible! It certainly wouldn't hurt to start memorizing the bones & muscles...I'm sure my teacher isn't the only one who will test on these. My qtr. just finished yesterday and I have about 5 weeks until the next. In A&P2, I know we'll be using the same text and it has a website...I'll be starting next weekend at least doing the online stuff to familiarize myself with what will be covered. I think I deserve at least a week off! Good luck with your class!!
