Is it a video monitor? Some of them have cameras you can move remotely to check on the display readouts and patients without going in the room. That might be a good option.

I would refer to counselor. This definitely sounds like a behavioral /sensory issue and I think the counselor would be in a better position to address it, or if he gets speech or OT that might also be a better way to approach.

I'm just curious as to what the overall opinions on this are. Seems to me that nurses with zero vent experience are about as useful as a baby monitor with this, esp when there are issues.....but apparently it's still considered "not a vent" and appro...

Using lifts is a skill.....and a one person job. You should learn to use the lifts..ask if there is a instruction manual that came with it or call the equipment company and ask if the rep can come show you how to use it. They really are not difficult...

Finally found my book that this is in! It gives a person 50-75% of its total weight as free water, if there is no sodium added. The other 25-50% is solids. Obviously depends quite a bit on how much water is used in preparation!

Just wondering what U would do.....got a weird look from another nurse when I pulled the airlock in...I have always put airlocks in behind steroids due to the effects they can have on skin.

I think that most nurses would be happy to change at work...IF they were provided with a locker to store their street clothes while working and a decent locker room. Maybe the issue is the facilities, not the people.
