  1. Moving to Atlanta

Hi everyone. Family may be moving to the North/Northwest Atlanta area in the near future. What are some great healthcare facilities to look at. I have 11 years as an ADN in a CV/Surgical IMCU unit. I am also just started a BSN completion program....
  2. Moving to Atlanta

Cool. How are you liking Northside? What hrs are you working? I am looking at Gwinnett Medical. Although not sure if I really want to work 7p -7a. I already did that for 6 years at my current job. Maybe we can meet up when we move down there. L...

Thank you for your reply. We have actually decided on living in Dacula as my hubby's job is in Lawrenceville. Do you have suggestions for this area? Thank you again, Sarah
  4. MN nurses- where else have you lived?

DH and I live in Wisconsin. We are however trying to sell our house so we can move to the Cities. I grew up in Northern MN so I am excited to be heading back. Hope we can get there before the snow flies again. Sarah
  5. Questions.....

Wow that is crazy. A new nurse on our unit used to work on the ortho floor at North. She said quite a few of her former co workers were looking at moving. She loved it especially the people she worked with. We are so lucky she is working with us ...
  6. Questions.....

Hi everyone. My husband and I are looking at possibly moving to the Cities in the near future from WI. I grew up in Northern MN so I am excited about moving back. I am wondering if there is a pay difference for 2 year vs. 4 year RNs ( I have looked...
  7. Any info on Duluth for new grad?

From Duluth on up to the Falls(where I grew up) the population has been decreasing since the 80's Freeze I can believe the area you mentioned.
  8. Anyone from MN/WI move south and back up here?

Can only say I moved to Southern WI from Northern MN. However Dh and I are looking at moving to MN in the next couple of years. Probably the NW burbs. I was in Phoenix in April and yes it is a dry air but it was already getting really warm out.
  9. Minnesota Roll Call

Hi. I live in Madison and we are looking to move to the Cities in the near future (probably NW suburbs). I have worked as an RN for the past 4 years on a Surgical Intermediate Care Unit. We just built a new heart hospital and we moved to our new ...
  10. Questions.....

I am familiar with Monticello and Rogers. My sister and husband live in Albertville. My sister hasn't been too impressed with the hospital in Monticello though. Does anyone know about the new hospital going in in Maple Grove? It looks like it coul...
  11. Questions.....

We are probably going to buy. First we need to sell our house here. Which hasn't been such a fun thing. The housing market stinks on the selling end. I knew that Blaine was a nice area. Also Maple Grove (however the prices there are insane). Tha...
  12. Rottie Mom, Just to let you know St. Mary's is a wonderful place to work. Yes we have some of the same problems as other hospitals. We are in healthcare. There are always problems that we are going to have to work through.
  13. Indy, We started using the bridge system about 5 years ago. Two weeks prior to the incident it was implemented in Birth Suites.
  14. Oh My....

Has anyone seen the video on CNN? It is about waitresses' wearing skimpy nursing outfits. I don't care for it at all and I am no prude by any means. I work hard as a nurse and I feel it is making a mockery of our profession. So what to you all t...
  15. Criminal charges against WI Nurse

Things have really changed at the hospital as I work there. She was a very experienced RN and very caring. However, mistakes were made. I feel horrible for both Julie and the Grant family.
  16. No we don't and let me tell you there have been some pretty upset patients/families. Our hospital is smokefree although people go out and smoke in front of the hospital because they say the sidewalk is part of the city and not the hospital. I thin...
  17. Rapid Response Teams

Hi. Our hospital is activating RRT's this June. I am quite excited about this. We are having some difficulties with some of our CV doc's at night. Hope this will clear up some of the "just watch him/her" overnight. This drives me nuts. I wouldn...
  18. Quiet

Wow. Sure quiet around here. What areas are you all practicing in? I work on a SIMCU. I really enjoy it however, our unit is such a challenge. The acuity of pt's seems to be getting higher and higher. Spring is right around the corner. Yeah Sa...
  19. Quiet

I ment quiet here on the board I never, never say the Q word at work. I did once when I first started working and man it was a night I would soon wish to never repeat. Our unit is always crazy.
  20. We only remove Penrose or JP's. Our Cardiac PA's remove pacer wires and CT.
  21. Can't wait to go. I am looking forward to all of the Cardiac topics. Also the Viva Las Vegas party could be pretty fun as well. Hope to see you there. Sarah
  22. OTs versus RNs

There are different lengths of school for nursing ranging from 18 months to 5-6 years or longer. The wait to get into school can also be difficult as there is a shortage of nursing instructors, so they can only accept a certain number of students eac...
  23. OTs versus RNs

I went to school for COTA. When PPS came about I felt that I was spending more time on paper work then seeing my patients. Also I felt people weren't getting the therapy time that they needed to return to being independent within their diagnosis. H...
  24. And Way We Go

Hi everyone. I am a first year ADN student starting my 2nd week. Did everyone feel overwhelmed? The rest of my classmates are feeling pretty much the same. I decided to return back to school for another degree after PPS came about and I was one o...
