Oh My....

Nurses General Nursing

Has anyone seen the video on CNN? It is about waitresses' wearing skimpy nursing outfits. I don't care for it at all and I am no prude by any means. I work hard as a nurse and I feel it is making a mockery of our profession.

So what to you all think about it?

I saw the headline on the internet CNN page that said that nurses are pretty peeved about that. I agree that it's really tacky and annoying!:angryfire

I guess it serves as another reminder that this is "Free Enterprise America" and absolutely ANYTHING sells for money...... in poor taste or not is irrelevant as long as it separates you from your money ;)

God Bless America please support our troops especially this Veterans Day. Say a special prayer for those who are currently recovering from their wounds, I see them daily, all very young and brave souls!!!!!

I don't know if it is making a mockery of nursing. I see all kinds of skimpy costumes at Halloween, with women dressed as sexy librarians, teachers, firefighters, cops, etc. I understand many people here feel that nursing has an image problem in the media but I think this type of stuff is just harmless fantasy. We could discuss the demeaning images of women in general by the media and in advertising but I don't think nurses being singled out by this stuff.

Anyone who has been in a hospital or watched "E.R." knows that nurses don't dress like strippers in real life.

Ok, first of all, the girl in the green just looks plain old rediculous. I love the nursing student who was like, "I'm actually a nursing student and I don't care!" Well ofcorse YOU don't care, you are getting all the tips for your skimpy naughty nurse outfit! And the food there just looks sickening. I mean, if you eat so much you can't WALK to your car and need to be put in a wheel chair, then I think you've had too much food!

It's just another example of how the three-letter "S word" sells!!!!! It always has and it always will with only one goal.....to separate a dumb man from his money and in this case even worse: On top of separating him from his money he may also get a heart attack from the high cholesterol in those chicken wings :lol2:

I think there should be some type of diciplinary action allowed on the basis that they refer to themselvs as nurses and the owner calls himself a doctor. I know it is a stretch because they are not claiming to actually practice medicine, but still, I couldn't go around saying I was a police officer even though I was not actually arresting someone.

I always thought it was illegal to call yourself a nurse or a doctor. I could be wrong though, but I just thought saying your name is "Dr. Soandso" was against the law unless you really were a doctor. Like I wouldn't call myself Steph RN, because I am not. Or I wouldn't say I am a nurse, because again I am not. I could be wrong!

I think all professions are made fun of one way or another.

They could be doctors of philosophy instead of medical and the "nurses" are probably CNA's (no offense to our hard-working CNA folks)

one of the guys in my nursing class had a Halloween party, costume required. There were about 100 people there, with 10 from our nursing class. There was one couple I didn't know who dressed as "doctor and nurse." He was wearing green scrubs and she was wearing thigh high stockings and low cut uniform. He would shout out "Nurse!" and she would bring him a beer. ha ha.

The kicker is one of the girls from our class showed up in the "sexy-nurse" costume. I thought, you fool, you just shot yourself in the foot.
