  1. redranger you have a point there...... They did contact me back....and they did reiterate what this poster has claimed..
  2. Thats a very good idea suzanne, im going away for a week so I will let you all know next week how it went, and what they said..
  3. Ok, it looks like its another "decietful " ad, I will be calling them this week to find out more though. I will then report them, thanks for advice.
  4. Thats the thing SD, they are offering green card on their website and for family, its all newly updated and advertised...
  5. Hi all, Well I have been lurking on this forum for a while now, and fully aware of the retrogression that is in place. I have prepared myself for the fact that it will be a long time before I could get to the states, maybe even 7 years.. However, I am just reading todays nursing standard, and there is an ad stating in big letters " BEAT THE RETROGRESSION "...and a recruitment company is now recruiting for nurses to go there, saying if they have CGFNS & NCLEX they qualify for fast track, and will get them there in 9-15 months..???? I now dont understand. I have just emailed them, to ask if this is a blatant lie, as I am now confused with all the conflicting information I am recieving. Aparently this recruitment company isnt an agency as such, as they put you in direct contact with the hospital..and it also looks like you would have to commit to an 18 month - 24 month contract.. I guess I just dont know what to believe any more.. http://www.unihealthamerica.com/html/about/index.asp Monique x
  6. yes but your training was better then, we dont qualify with all those hours now...the requirement for the nmc is 2300 practical.
  7. Sometimes I think I may as well just go to medical school anyway if its going to take ages.
  8. How long do you think this retrogression will take to lift? Im kinda lucky that in my training I have had hours in all of the areas..ive got another 15 months left..and after I finish, I will to get some experience. I think ill start studying the NCLEX as soon as I qualify, alongside working as a NQ nurse. Im just worried ill qualify and the wait will be something ridiculous like 10 years by then:confused:.
  9. So we are talking 3 years plus? How long does it take to get to Canada? x
  10. Hi I am currently in the second year of my nursing degree. I hope to become dual qualified in peads also. I have had a read of some of the international threads, and I just wanted to know how long would it take for a UK citizen to immigrate to the US. I dont want to go with an agency, I plan on doing it all myself. I was curious about the length of time it would take, if I tried to get a direct hire position.. Any info would be greatly appreciated Monique x
  11. no they are not saying that at all actually. You can be child branch trained from the start to go. Anyway i rang up the immigration authorities, and they confirmed it to me. Anyway thats that, and somehow my positive outlook on this seems to have diminished. Thanks for the support!
  12. no thats ok, you need the required hours like you do in general nursing, medical , surgical, peads, psychiatry, maternity so if you was training, you could do an elective in a child psychiatric ward...
  13. HI im trying to find out all information, but i saw the ad in the rcn weekly magazine, under o grady peyton it said something like this, 'after much lobbying with the immigration authorities, but we are pleased to announce that they now recognise the pediatric nurse qualification on parts 15 of the register or child branch ...something like that. However, you still need to have the rquired hours in all areas, rang o grady peyton up couldnt beleive my eyes, and they sed they have an open day next month in london, and will be recrutiting pediatric nurses, and some of the children hospitals in america are already participating.
  14. Hi all, really happy because im a first year student nurse, and found out that the immigration authorities in the usa, have passed a new bill 3 weeks ago. Pediatric trained nurses are now allowed to go to the states!!!
  15. thank you augigi, finally someone understood what i was trying to ask.
  16. i just read you post again, and noticed it was f grade salary at trainee thats quite good. Id take the post!!! you have nothing to lose, your rite.!! let me know how you get on!!! where did you see that on nhs jobs?? xx
  17. Hi ya Tracey, god all that experience in ITU, the schools in usa would snap you up. !! my game plan was to immigrate to America and do my 18 months contract with OGP and do the CRNA course as they only require you to have 1 year ICU experience. Obviously you would have a green card as you are sponsered, so you would be eligible to apply for loans. you usually need 2 years credit history in the states to do this anyway. Yes its not good to borrow, but some of the salarys you could earn as a crna in america, is more than what a surgeon would get paid here!..i know its ridiculous. However, in regards to the Uk, they say that 50 thousand pounds a year is what they will be paying you once qualified. Im not sure how much once training. It is very worthwhile doing , they only reason why i steered against it is because you STILL do not have as much autonomy as a CRNA in the states. 80% of CRNA administer anesthestia, where as here the Anesthesiologist will be upon your heels all the time!! Yes you still have to report to the Anesthesiogist in the USA but your given a lot more responsibility. I guess it all depends on what you want. However, you are in a brilliant position to get accepted to whatever you need to go good luck xx
  18. Hi, unfortuanetly we do not have a CRNA course here in the Uk. However, aprently at the end of this year, and it is already being piloted. They will be doing a new course, which will enable you to become Anaesthestic Practitioner. Salary...HAHA nowhere near as they would pay you in the USA. A Far Cry. Lets just leave it at that. http://www.rcoa.ac.uk/index.asp?PageID=761 Rumours are that it will be around 50k once qualified, im not sure whether thats optimistic, or pessimistic. Somebody else may knowmore. Good luck x
  19. i must be talking a completely different language, because no one seems to be understanding me. I am talking about 'CREDIT SCORING' you know when you go to open a bank account that sort of thing. I want to know whether the Uk credit reporting agencys which are equifax and experian are used in australia. I have learnt on another website that you use a system called Baycorp. As a new resident in an australia do you get an social security number or anything like that?. If no one understands this, then it could be the way im saying it but i dont know how to simplify any more than this. Thanks in advance for all replies.
  20. HI, thanks but i will coming from the UK to OZ, does the same apply?
  21. I just wanted to know whether the Uk credit scoring is transferable after immigrating to oz, or do you start from scratch.
  22. Hi, i know that as a Uk nurse you can do an extra 18 months to qualify you as a midwife, i know that they dont do it that way in the USA, you have to be a nurse first before going onto do midwife training, rather than doing direct entry like we can here. However is our midwifery training worth anything over there or do you have to do the whole thing all over again, just some im querying. Thanks in advance for all your replys...
  23. Well that was not very nice was it:nono:
  24. thank you everybody for your replies!!!! xx
