QuoteAbstract:
The COVID19 pandemic has unfolded along side what the World Health Organization has termed an “infodemic” of misinformation. This study identifies and analyzes the most prominent topics of COVID related misinformation that emerged in traditional media between January 1 and May 26,2020 based on a total sample of over 38 million articles published in English-language media around the world. To our knowledge, our analysis is the first comprehensive survey of the traditional and online media landscape on this issue. We found that media mentions of US President Donald Trump within the context of COVID-19 misinformation made up by far the largest share of the infodemic. Trump mentions comprised 37.9% of the overall misinformation conversation, well ahead of any other topics. We conclude that the President of the United States was likely the largest driver of the COVID-19 misinformation “infodemic”. Only 16.4% of the misinformation conversation was “fact-checking” in nature, suggesting that the majority of COVID misinformation is conveyed by the media without question or correction.

The real story. Is that covid is worse than it's ever been. I'm really angry at covid for it's timing giving people this kind of ammunition that it's an "election infection" that they don't believe and thus putting themselves at risk.
I do hope that that Trump is right though that the topic will change November 4th or at least January when Biden takes over.
I wonder if Trump and the people who believe what he says about the pandemic think that ”TEST, TEST, TEST” also explains the increasing positivity rate? (It doesn’t). It’s not a ”fake media conspiracy”. It’s a real increase.

Europe is also experiencing a new surge of infections. Several countries are imposing nighttime curfews. Just as you wrote in a previous post Tweety, do some people really believe that Europe and European media are also a part of the conspiracy? It’s so dumb, it beggars belief.
There are reports that in Belgium the situation right now is so serious that physicians and nurses in some parts of the country are asked to come to work even when they’ve tested positive for Covid-19, if they’re asymptomatic. That’s how bad it is. In order to keep hospitals up and running, these docs and nurses are needed.

The same thing happened here where I work when we were at our worst. Apparently the CDC here in America approved of this practice but not sure of the science behind it.

Honestly I think the ”science” behind it, both here in Europe and in the U.S., is that they realize that if too many healthcare professionals are off sick at the same time, patients will suffer harm. They have to weigh that certain outcome against the risk that asymtomatic caregivers infect patients and/or coworkers. It’s probably the option judged to do the least amount of harm and it’s based on necessity in the current situation.

Yes. Here in Florida we're short staffed as it is. When Covid had a surge in the Summer that really was not expected (but not surprising) staffing was stretched. We did it here when 11 people in one unit got covid at the same time. They all attended a crew party and that is a lot of people to go missing during the surge we were having.
Fortunately covid admissions have been low and in fact the nurses are floating to other departments, but we're waiting for a new wave. We've seen a slight uptick in hospital admissions. This past week according to the daily email we get, but not at my facility which saw zero admissions yesterday. Not sure about today though. State wide there was 4300 new cases.
What's maddening to me is that Florida has a Trump ally Republican governor, a republican house and a republican senate and the man that reports the covid numbers is a well known Trump supporter and yet people still think the numbers are inflated to get rid of Trump. This is dangerous not only because it's sheer stupidity, but puts them at risk thinking things aren't as bad as they are....and more infections....and so it goes.

This is an interesting phenomenon, isn't it? The power of propaganda is plainly evident in this Trump era of conmen, grifters and charlatans. If Trump says something, it gets repeated, echoed, and amplified even if it is a complete fabrication.
I guess we're wrong, Trump has ended the pandemic
One of his many accomplishments.
QuoteEnding the pandemic: From the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic the Trump Administration has taken decisive actions to engage scientists and health professionals in academia, industry, and government to understand, treat and defeat the disease.

The Covid Data Tracking Project seems to have other info President missed!
US Daily cases
Map color code--- darker = more cases in the last 7 days.

So the President thinks the media will stop talking about COVID spread on 11/4 --- just as hospitalizations and deaths will be significantly rising from latest surge.

He's so FOS. I'm a conservative Republican, but I'm also a pragmatist and I can't see the country enduring another four years of his chaos, tweets, and dumpster fires. I'm not a fan of Biden either, but I'd rather take a chance on him (and pray he doesn't lead us into socialism) and hope for the best. He certainly can't do worse than Trump.
