Wow. No one has started such a thread yet?
After promising that most K-8 students would be in schools in the first 100 days, apparently Joe is afraid to lead on this and has drastically scaled back that goal.
Instead, we're shooting for about half to go to school at least one day a week, by the end of April.
Tweety said:There is fraud and waste (Remember Rick Scott here in Florida committed fraud) and I think in some ways the government is has been ineffective about weeding it all out. If they've been ineffective, perhaps revamping the system is warranted, but firing people seems to be all they've done without a plan to weed out fraud and no statements or evidence about what kind of fraud they are talking about.

Of course there is fraud and waste. Using that reality as an excuse to engage in this extraconstitutional endeavor is deplorable. Especially when they don't partner with the congressional approved and funded Inspectors General and the qualified auditors to discover and expose the fraud.
This is precisely the stuff of constitutional crisis.

If they were effectively doing their jobs, why weren't the IG's and auditors already on top of the waste and fraud that is being discovered?
toomuchbaloney said:What waste and fraud is discovered? Have you seen the data and a report or are you relying on Musk's tweets?
I hope Beerman doesn't mean all those pesky nuclear technicians that were fired, or Ag Dept workers working on bird flu, or the "forest sweepers" or grain meant for USAID that's rotting, or VA staff, FAA staff.

QuoteOne by one, in public statements and private conversations, Republican lawmakers are beginning to speak up to protect home-state interests, industries and jobs that are endangered by President Donald Trump's executive actions and the slash-and-burn tactics erupting across the federal government by billionaire Elon Musk 's DOGE.

I'm not sure which is more ridiculous. The fascist rhetoric or a multi billionaire with a extremely high IQ who has with his superior intelligence created many beneficial inventions including the electric car Biden attempted force on us is a "chimp". Hahahaha.
He is an unlikeable figure though. He'd be better off doing his DOGE duties a little bit more discrete. More like a fascist would.
subee said:Did Musk donate all those Tesla trucks? No, we paid for them. The money is still going from the taxpayer to Musk.
No, the money hasn't been paid and the Trump administration says the contract isn't going to go forward.
It's a bit amusing to hear the climate change crowd complain about a Biden administration contract for electric vehicles...LOL

You think Musk invented the electric car? LOL. Do you think he invented rocket ships and satellites, too? Do you think he invented Twitter?
Beerman said:You don't believe they have found any significant waste and/or fraud?
No, I don't believe they have found significant waste or fraud. I've seen no credible evidence of that. Most of what they define as waste and fraud actually involved no transfer of money. Like all the people on the SSA list who are too old to be living. They aren't receiving checks. They just don't have enough people on their staff to keep up with the deletions of those no longer eligible. The other "discoveries" were in the same genre. A misplaced entry on a ledger but no fraud or no money sent out. Now I'm waiting to see how they are going to cut the military expenditures. If they take a dollar away from the soldiers, then we are doomed. Do I believe that new technology is expensive? Yes, it's VERY expensive and trial and error mistakes will happen. It's part of the bargain we make to get things right.
How do you know that they weren't? Are we to take the word of liars?
