President Biden thread

Published

Wow.  No one has started such a thread yet?

After promising that most K-8 students would be in schools in the first 100 days,  apparently Joe is afraid to lead on this and has drastically scaled back that goal.

Instead, we're shooting for about half to go to school at least one day a week,  by the end of April.

The best is the Handmaid's Tale hysteria. Looool. With a straight face they say they actually believe Trump will do this to women. Then tell us we are the irrational conspiracy theorists!

Do you think they knew the state of Biden's decline and just can't cover it up anymore or do you think they are really surprised?

Maybe you don't remember Trump saying in a early interview that he thought maybe women needed to be punished for seeking abortion while right wing religious zealots opine that women haven't really reached their full potential until they are wives and mothers and shouldn't be able to make their own health decisions.

Odds are that you've never read Atwood's work of fiction.  Have you read Orwell or Huxley?

Nah.  It's the same thing.  Biden is the capable and successful president who is running against the pathological liar, who was a failed single term president before he tried to overturn the election he lost.  Nothing has changed.  The republican candidate opposing Biden is unfit for office based simply upon his disqualifying character flaws. When one adds in the unconstitutional thinking, the sexual abuse, the civil fraud, the felonies and the threats to NATO allies the choice to vote for Biden is clear.

The only people who have "bought into" a narrative are those people who would believe the narrative about Biden's opponent.   That guy has been conning people for decades... with a charity, with a fake university, with lies about wealth, wives and wisdom.  Now that conman sells people golden shoes and politicized Bibles and worthless media stock and bits of a suit that he wore when he surrendered for his mug shot when he's not busy selling them his lies and exaggerations and delusional thinking.

Many of these things may be true but when it comes to cognition, Biden is not there.

I'd rather have a liar than a person who doesn't have the cognition to tell a lie.

You can't help that you don't know what you don't know.

The government is expected to regulate things which are harmful to We the People, that's why conversion therapy is regulated or banned - because it's harmful.

Most of the time it's not clear what you are "making a case for".  For instance, the remainder of your comment is not making much sense. You don't seem to be making any point or argument at all.

Puberty blockers and trans homome therapy may be harmful.

Any medication can be harmful, hence government regulation.

I do understand how one who is in favor of decriminalizing illegal immigration and is in favor of open border policies would think that the Biden presidency was successful.

What is unclear is how you think that he is capable going forward.

The administration has been lying to us his whole term about his condition.  The press have been covering for the administration.  Now, they are panicking of the realization that Biden will lose, and in trying to get him to step aside have found it in themselves to come out and report things many of us have been seeing for awhile.  The press have revealed themselves to be more like political activists than they are journalists.

Some seem to be in denial of this mess the Dems have created for themselves, and it's quite fascinating.

Speaking of Trump, I caught a bit of Ezra Kline on a podcast yesterday.  Among other things, he said this:

"I've had top Democrats say to me basically something like, I don't know why all these Democrats who think Donald Trump is an existential threat to democracy are acting the way they are. But the reason I'm acting the way I am is because I don't think that."

The "Threat to Democracy" is nothing but fear-mongering and yet one more false narrative many liberals have fallen for.

Yes, and we let patients along with their *doctors*, not politicians, decide when the benefit to the patient outweighs the risks.

Sure. Then we should do away with all the government policy and restrictions on medical proceedure and medications.

All things should be left up to the patient and their doctor.

I imagine you took no issue with the politicians mandating vaccines and quarantine too right? The former is a choice, the latter is forced.

Unlawful border crossing is a misdemeanor and I don't recall one time suggesting that it should be decriminalized.

Since that debate Biden has done the work of the presidency. He's made public remarks, attended meetings and hosted events.  Biden has a capable, seasoned and professional staff and cabinet and VP who could assume responsibility should Biden suffer some unexpected event that incapacitated him.

Yes, you think Biden's team is lying when I can see for myself an old man who still has the capacity to do the job without directly threatening our republic or siding with the likes of Putin or Orbàn. Your concern about an administration lying to us might carry more weight if you weren't a supporter of the guy who lied more during his failed administration than any other person in presidential history.  That administration led about a national public health emergency.

The thing that democrats have created includes a robust post pandemic economy with good job and wage growth.  They created a huge investment in infrastructure across the nation.  They invested in lowering prescription drug prices for millions of working Americans. They turned the USA into a net exporter of fossil fuel energy.

Ezra Kline is entitled to his opinion, just like you are.  I don't base my opioid of Trump upon what other people think.

I prefer to evaluate Trump based upon his history, his words, and his character.  So far, Trump's history reveals an erratic business man, a TV celebrity and a thrice married philanderer who bragged about sexual abuse before being found civilly liable for it.  The history shows a guy who had a reputation for not paying small businesses who con contracted with him. The history paints the picture of a man raised in wealth who stole from charities and bankrupted (was it 4 or 5?) casinos. Trump's history has him snooping behind the scenes at teen beauty pageants and making jokes about having sex with his oldest daughter.  His recent history is replete with examples of lies about our elections, lies about our FBI, lies about the events of 010621, and lies about secret documents at his resort.

Trump was ranked among the LEAST effective presidents in history. He surrounded himself worth corrupt yes men and opportunists. His administration was chaotic and scandal ridden. Trump abused his power.  He failed the pandemic leadership test and he sided with Putin over our intelligence reports.  The fellow shouldn't be anywhere near the presidency again.

I don't need someone else's opinion to know all of that stuff about Trump and I didn't even get into the malignant narcissism, pathological lying or delusions.

Yes I know you hate Trump.

The people election a president who can and will make critical decisions independently from their administration.  Not a person who will rely on what their administration says because they can't perform the duty of POTUS

POTUS is the commander and chief. Not the utility vehicle.

You've said you don't think illegal immigrants as criminals.

I've asked what should happen to illegal immigrants who are caught at the border and you've declined to answer.

So, that leaves me to infer based on everything else you've said on the matter.  Your border policy would be to welcome and release,  provide work visas, and then grant amnesty.  Without any kind of criminal penalty or deterrent, you've decriminalized illegal immigration.

His public remarks (including "I'm proud to be the first black women...") hosting events, and attending meetings isn't too high of a bar.  And there is a host of other things that have come out.  Here's a new one:

https://www.foxnews.com/media/nbc-news-chuck-todd-reveals-senior-cabinet-secretary-told-him-2022-biden-cant-run-again-like-this

Yes, his team has been hiding his deficiencies as best they can, and have been lying to us.  And the political activist press has been helping them out.   Now they're freaking out and want to get rid of him.  I don't expect someone like you to change your vote, but it's foolish to not acknowledge all that.

That wasn't Ezra Klein's opinion.  His is much like yours.  That was him reiterating what some Democrats have told him.

NO ONE was ever forced to take a vaccine.  How would we even hold them down?  If you don't believe in vaccines during the deadly phase of a pandemic, you aren't fit to work in health care.  If you can't to the hard research ( not to me the research courses), then you can't make scientific choices for our patients.  That is not the same as being forced.  You have the right to leave that job and do something else.  The Covid vaccine was no better or worst than any other vaccine we have to take to work in patient care areas.

I hate liars a d people who brag about snatching the genitals of teenage girls.  I guess it's OK as long as he's preying on female adolescents.  Would it feel as comfortable to you if he were doing that to boys?

That right there is another good reason to vote for Biden, he has a proven record of sound, diplomatic and effective decision making.  Biden opponent, in contrast, is a pathological liar who abused his power and then tried to overthrow our government after losing an election.  His decision making capacity was on full display when he sided with Putin in Helsinki, wanted to invite the Taliban to Camp David, and lied about and politicized a pandemic before getting convicted of felonies.

The POTUS is the commander in chief, not the criminal in chief.
