Wow. No one has started such a thread yet?
After promising that most K-8 students would be in schools in the first 100 days, apparently Joe is afraid to lead on this and has drastically scaled back that goal.
Instead, we're shooting for about half to go to school at least one day a week, by the end of April.

Roger Stone, Wife Agree to $2 Million Settlement in Tax Case
Hunter Biden's 'sweetheart' deal tougher than Stone's tax deal
Can't like this enough. Hunter Biden "settled" his income tax charges by actually paying them back. Should he go to jail for carrying a gun? I don't know. Kyle Rittenhouse killed a man and yet, didn't go to jail.

HB has paid his back taxes and pleaded guilty. And there should also be consequences for the illegal gun. BUT, he didn't pack that gun up, drive to a riot and shoot a person and then not spend any time in prison. So, who's the worst here? Personally, I think he should be given a short prison term. He deserves that and it's better politics. But maybe that is what the judge will do when his sentencing comes. We know very little about this deal.

I don't think that the judge has accepted the terms of the plea agreement, has he? Either way, the noise about this matter from the right wing is predictable and loud.

No, the judge hasn't accepted the terms.. that's what I'm saying. All this huffing and puffing from the Republicans when we don't even KNOW what the terms are.
subee said:Wow, a judge letting a violent offender stay at home with mama and daddy. Either the judge is nuts or there is some sort of extenuating circumstance that Fox news is witholding from us because it doesn't fit with their narrative; stories get messy when you spend more than a paragraph or two on them.
What narrative exactly do you think Fox is trying to put forward?
And, in their "paragraph or two" is a link to a longer and more detailed story. It even includes all the extenuating circumstances.

I agree that it's all very shady and thanks for the article. Certainly the committees doing the investigation with their "mounting evidence" do need to move forward in proving wrong doing by President Biden.
Again, I'm not sure that text message was a "bombshell" and I would say that a drug addicted son using his father's name for personal financial gain as leverage doesn't necessarily mean his father was really involved. As his lawyers say at the end of the article "Any verifiable words or actions of my client, in the midst of a horrible addiction, are solely his own and have no connection to anyone in his family.” Given what I've seen addicts do in my family this makes some sense to me.
The other scenario that Biden was involved in the dealings and is throwing his son under the bus is possible as well.
We'll just have to see if Republicans can put any teeth in their claims and accusations. It seems like they've been trying to find dirt on now Biden since before Trump was shaking down Zelensky and delaying military aid for announcements of Biden investigations. It wouldn't all seem so politically motivated if Republicans didn't connect the committee work directly to Biden's poll numbers.

I agree that "bombshell " is overused, but the text is significant, imo.
Joe doesn't really deny any specifics, such as that incident. Or meeting with his son's business associates. He simply continues to say he's never discussed with his son his foreign business dealings. That seems unlikely. Why wouldn't he have, especially during the time he wasn't in office. Then you add in Joe's long history of lying and all the evidence as noted in the article I provided.
So, what kind of "proof" are you looking for? Sounds like you're wanting a theatrical production along the lines of the Trump impeachment hearing.

Let's remember that the NYPost is using words like "alleged" when it comes to family members of Biden receiving illegal funds. Comer's committee is not trustworthy, IMO. They just throw the spaghetti at the wall. I will wait to see if a prosecutor thinks they have a winnable case. Until then blah, blah, blah.

Proof;
a: the cogency of evidence that compels acceptance by the mind of a truth or a fact
b: the process or an instance of establishing the validity of a statement especially by derivation from other statements in accordance with principles of reasoning
- Merriam-Webster
The impeachment hearing provided cogent and compelling evidence of wrong doing by Trump. So far these republican hearings have failed to provide proof of their claims and accusations.
Do you think that if the Republicans can find some actual compelling evidence or proof of Biden's crimes they will refer it to the FBI and DOJ that committee members threaten to defund and dismantle?

I never wanted a Trump impeachment hearing. Impeachments are a dark stain to our democracy. But if it needs to be done, then so be it.
Comer's committee canceled holding the FBI director in contempt. Comer's committee said it had four or maybe 10, who knows, informants that show he committed crimes but so far have come out with nothing much. I don't care if he discussed his son's business affairs or not. Did he take bribes or engage in illegal or unethical activity? If so, present your evidence, indict and impeach...or whatever.
Comer may very well prove something. He's really made it his mission and has talked of nothing else. While producing no actual evidence, he says it's coming soon. I just want that evidence. Surely Comer isn't lying about having witnesses and evidence is he? I do want Biden held accountable if that evidence stacks up against him. Is that so hard to understand?
When I talk Biden, I'm speaking of the President. I have no doubt Hunter Biden has some more plea bargaining to do.
I gave Trump this same benefit of the doubt if you remember.

No one is trying to stop the Republicans or their noise machine. It does seem unlikely that they might stumble onto a truth while pursuing proof of grievance based speculation.
