President Biden thread

Published

Wow.  No one has started such a thread yet?

After promising that most K-8 students would be in schools in the first 100 days,  apparently Joe is afraid to lead on this and has drastically scaled back that goal.

Instead, we're shooting for about half to go to school at least one day a week,  by the end of April.

That just seems unkind to me. So what? Kinda like Dan Quayle putting an "e" at the end of potato.

You make a good point.  Making fun of a elderly man with dementia, who wasn't the brightest bulb in the box even when younger, is unkind.

How is the president supposed to control inflation, when at least some of it is corporate greed?

We're thankful that he displaced the crazy guy before him who is still trying to undermine our democratic republic with lies.  There's a constitutional process for transfer of power should the president be unable to carry out the duties of the position.

So far this administration appears to be competent and more focused upon policy than social media bullying.  Biden’s cabinet will serve the country,  not the president, when push comes to shove.

It's especially unkind when you understand that these same unkind people make excuses for Trump and promote great communicators like Herschel Walker or MTG. The fascists have convinced them that liberals are their enemies... how many believe that they may need to resort to violence to insure political victory. What happens next?

Hold on to your hat.

I'm surprised anyone, especially working in healthcare-- would conclude a person's thinking process matches their outward demeanor. It might, but whatever is going on there will never be as dangerous as a guy who has demonstrated behavior that closely tracks with autocratic dictators and their cult followers, who tend to coalesce and become more fanatic when the object of their adulation begins their downward trajectory.

I predict a zero chance of Biden hijacking the news cycle because some cheeky guy at the NWS dared correct the Donald Trump Hurricane Forecast.

I predict zero members of Biden's cabinet will feel the need to write an anonymous op-ED reassuring the country that they're babysitting the president so not to worry if it looks like he's running us off the rails.

People, even those in healthcare, quite often judge a person's thinking process based on their "outward demeanor".  What an odd statement.

Do you not judge Trump that way?

And, then, the rest of your post is just another boring deflection back to Trump.  Just can't help yourself, I guess.

I guess you recognized yourself in my post to tmb? OK.  You regularly link Biden's outward behavior as some type of proof that he has dementia.  I've taken care of a number of people who's bodies were twisted like a pretzel and were not able to utter a coherent word, and who had IQs over 140.

You want to simplify the complex brain/body systems and all the ways they can go wrong to the point you can declare unequivocally that Biden has dementia? I'm not playing, and you only diminish yourself when you do. One has to wonder what you would have to say about Stephen Hawking if you only knew how he looked.

And no, I don't judge Trump that way.  When he was elected, I didn't claim an obnoxious blowhard is disqualified to be president.  His rhetoric was often offensive, but we've seen that before in the public square. I see his outward behavior, and have wondered from the beginning whether it's his idea of showmanship, if there was some sort of strategy behind his actions. The old "game theory" metric that cropped up from time to time.

I didn't wish he would fail, just because he's Trump, and neither did many Democrats at first. It's over years of observing all of his behavior that leads me to believe he's a corrupt narcissist. There are dismaying amount of instances when Trump appointees tried to corrupt the executive branch. Anything to make the boss look good.

My last two paragraphs were about Biden and his cabinet, not Trump. I was elaborating to tmb's point as follows:

You obviously don’t know the story behind the Dan Quayle episode.  Enlighten yourself.

Less than 2% of the population has an IQ greater than 140.  And you supposedly took care of several of them who were couldn't talk and bodies were in bad shape.  But somehow you found out they had IQs in the 140s?  Yeah sure you did.

This isn't the first time you've accused somebody of lying here on allnurses. I wonder why that would seem like a probability to you.

To answer your question, yeah I sure did!  Anyone familiar with actually being a nurse knows that outpatient clinic nursing and private duty nursing (as well as many other specialties )give us an opportunity for longtime nurse:patient relationships where you would certainly know all aspects of that person's personality.

I'll never forget one in particular who would have to dose himself with 10mg of Valium and a good amount alcohol just so he could sit reasonably still on the exam table. Even then he struggled to control his extremities. He wrote the most beautiful poetry I can remember, but only able to scrawl about 15 words on each page.

I had to look up the potato incident.  Technically speaking Quayle didn't misspell the word but told a kid that spelled it correctly that he misspelled it and to add something at the end, so the kid was the one that added the e at the end.

The gaffe was replayed for days on TV and helped spread an image of Quayle as inept, although he blamed an incorrect cue card he was holding.

“It was more than a gaffe,” Quayle later wrote in his memoirs. “It was a ‘defining moment’ of the worst imaginable kind. I can’t overstate how discouraging and exasperating the whole event was.”
