President Biden thread

Published

Wow.  No one has started such a thread yet?

After promising that most K-8 students would be in schools in the first 100 days,  apparently Joe is afraid to lead on this and has drastically scaled back that goal.

Instead, we're shooting for about half to go to school at least one day a week,  by the end of April.

The Senate is run by democrats? Shhh, don't tell Mitch McConnell.

And who, by the way, runs the Supreme Court?

Amazing  Dems don’t like Mavericks all of a sudden.  As for the Supreme Court John Roberts runs it.

Sorry, I don't understand your first sentence. Who is the Maverick?

And no, John Roberts may be the chief justice, but he does not seem to be running anything. If he did, he would put pressure on an associate justice to recuse himself in cases where his spouse is involved.

Synema and Manchin.  Thomas is not in charge of his wife.  If that was a requirement most of the House and Senate wouldn’t be able to vote on legislation.  Not to mention all the Biden family dealings.

I did not say Thomas was in charge of his wife. He should however, recuse himself from cases where she is likely involved, such as ones concerning the last presidential election.

I don't understand why you bring up the Biden family. Did they attempt to change the outcome of the election?

What’s your point?

My point is taken pretty easily.  Here is your last several posts.  You'll have to point out to me which ones have any sunstance.

I’m just referencing conflicts of interests.

Wouldn’t it be more applicable if Sotomayor or Kagan had family members with involvement with the EPA or gun legislation?

Why would that matter?  If they are suppose to be independent judiciary.  If that influences them they shouldn’t be in that role.

So there is no problem with a justice ruling on cases that their spouse, someone they presumably live with, is actively involved in?

as far as I know, the Biden family member that lives with the President is the First Lady. Does anyone think she influences the administration?

No there is not.  If someone’s spouse was a teacher that would mean they never could rule on classroom cases.  They have to be above that and I would think the spouse would believe that. I see no examples of influence on justice Thomas.  As a matter of fact he’s ruled against the administration.

Oh... YOU saw no examples... well that settles it...
