Wow. No one has started such a thread yet?
After promising that most K-8 students would be in schools in the first 100 days, apparently Joe is afraid to lead on this and has drastically scaled back that goal.
Instead, we're shooting for about half to go to school at least one day a week, by the end of April.

Yep. Very bad optics. But most people would prefer our humiliation rather than paying more for gas. I have a Prius and gas prices aren't my worry:) We've had decades to gear down on oil and gas and we didn't. This is what happens when our wealthiest lobbiest is the oil business. Good for Texas but sucks for the rest of us.

Oil is the life blood of the economy. You will never be able to have a stable country or economy on windmills and solar panels. It's a complete liberal fantasy.

Who told you that? You should read the science section of the NY Times (the NY Post doesn't have a science section). Read any science literature and try to keep up with modern technology! Of course we will never be free if oil (and who ever said we could be?) but we can can eventually take care if our own needs without having to rely on other hinky countries? Does that sound unattractive to you?

Thank you President Biden! First time in 150 years.

Apparently you don't listen to Biden much. As far as science goes, any publication that states a man wearing a dress is a woman doesn't have a real firm grasp on science. We were oil independent under Trump now look where we are.

Are you going to quote that language from that publication or should we take your word for it when you are prone to exaggerate?
We weren't oil independent under Trump. Import of Russian oil increased under Trump until it reached historic highs in 2020. You can peruse the numbers here.
People have believed lies,, now look where we are

We became a net exporter of oil for the first time in modern history in 2020, which was the result of a pandemic that drastically cut domestic oil consumption, that's credit to Trump?

If you don't know what the guy you voted for has said. You're the one with the problem.

Why not? He gets blamed for everything during the pandemic why wouldn't he get credit for once?

At one point Coal was the lifeblood of any economy. Before that it whale oil, or wood. There are certainly still economies and communities where these are there "life blood", are these the economies you really think the US should be hoping to be someday?

I didn't say that I didn't know what Biden said, did I? The problem is that you believe that we were energy independent and then said that publicly when it is a fantasy. When you post things that are measurably and demonstrably untrue, who has a problem?
I suppose it could be argued that oil is the backbone of our economy. Healthcare, technology, construction and retail are the biggest industries but all are energy dependent.
The United States is the worlds largest producer of oil and natural gas for that matter in 2022. It's one of our assets and Biden isn't standing in the way of that. Our oil industry is massive and we have many leases and places to drill.
Yet here we are consuming oil at high levels and paying ever increasing prices.
It certainly is fair to argue that alternatives to fossil fuels have their problems and energy won't necessarily be cheaper. But with gas and inflation at it's highest levels in decades the conversation needs to be had.
But we won't. We're long past the point of ever finding any issue that we can unite over. Covid proved that. Oil proves that. Culture wars prove that. Calling transgendered people "a man in a dress" proves that. Like I've said before, I've lost faith in America. We're destroying ourselves from the inside out.
