President Biden thread

Published

Wow.  No one has started such a thread yet?

After promising that most K-8 students would be in schools in the first 100 days,  apparently Joe is afraid to lead on this and has drastically scaled back that goal.

Instead, we're shooting for about half to go to school at least one day a week,  by the end of April.

I wasn't questioning whether the majority of people supports mask mandates on planes  Beerman's quote was that 49% of people supported mask mandates.  He didn't limit it to flying.  There's a world of difference between the two and he wasn't clear.

Just to add to what Tweety said, here is a quote from my earlier post regarding the federal mask mandate that a judge just ruled against:

"I just read a poll that 49% of the public think it's too early to end the mandate.  I find that to be interesting,  as when I go out in public,  far fewer than 49% of folks are wearing them."

We all make mistakes here from time to time. You seem to make them often.  Sorry to repeat what I've said to you already, but I would suggest you be a little less condescending and a bit more humble.

And who cares what 56% of Americans believe about Biden's past year?

Well, let's start with the 56%.

You can bet all the Democrats up for re-election care a great deal.  And, the administration surely does.

I don't understand what you are saying here.

Based on what you said, it was an idea for a campaign slogan.

I might even use it the next time I have a job interview..  "Well, I won't be any worse then the last person who did this job."

But other than a speech impediment, what else has he done wrong? Is it his cabinet appointments? Judges? Uniting NATO members in support of Ukraine?  Roll back of another president's programs? Is it because bills aren't  getting through the Senate?

For the record, since you brought it up, he is in cognitive decline.  Imo, it's not a speech impediment.  He spent decades in public office before anyone knew he ever had a speech impediment in his past, and there was ni evudence he had one.  Now it's all of a sudden showing up?

I've covered things he's done wrong as we've gone along.  No sense rehashing things you're in denial of.

Half of the population is below average in intelligence.

Well, there are two of you saying the same thing today.  The first poster was asked for a source for this.  We haven't heard anything.  Do you have one, or are you both just parroting what the ladies on The View said today?

This reminds of when the Democrats lost seats during Obama's first term, then again when Trump won.  People here complained about how Americans are stupid and "always vote against their best interests".  Yet, they voted in Obama twice around those midterms.

Now, only a year and a half after Biden won with a record number of votes, bad polling is blamed on the unintelligence of the American citizens.  Its funny how the collective intelligence of Americans coincides with how they currently feel about the Democrat party.

Anyone know who he thought he was supposed to shake hands with?

Politifact has a different opinion about the shaking of thin air, but Hannity and Fox News points about the "liberal fact checker" is being roasted on social media for claiming it false.   People would rather it be a moment of dementia instead of a moment captured on film.  I have no opinion.

I will say this about 50% of people being morons. I don't believe that to be true.

The man that posed behind the scantily clad woman flipping the bird with children, behind a profane flag is a moron.  The women in the binki's sexualizing themselves carrying a "F-Bomb" flag at a public event are morons.  They represent all that is wrong in this political process.  The people that are still claiming that Trump won the election and are shouting "Let's Go Brandon" at sports events are morons.  Hannity and Tucker are morons.  The ones that breeched the capitol took their moronic brains one step further.  Marjorie Taylor Green is a moron.  I could go on.

Like the Drag Queens and Go Go boys at Pride, these morons are the one's that get the media attention but they are not representing the majority.

Clearly these people don't represent 50% of the public.  50% of the public may vote republican but not 50% are morons.   My aunt, cousins and father are not morons.  People that want a safe border, low taxes, safe cities a strong military, small government are not morons.   They aren't even all Trump supporters, although they may vote for Trump is he wins the next nomination over Biden or a Democrat. *shudder*

Still while not morons, a lot of the public, are not really interested or are uninformed about the news and may get what they know by word of mouth or social media.  I've said some very obvious things to coworkers about world  and national events and they were clueless and unaware.  They aren't morons.

Yes Democrats can be morons and ugly too but I'm sticking to the topic.

It clear to me that wasn't a gesture.   If it was, I guess he's trying something new, as I've never seen that before.  He also seemed to aimlessly wonder for a moment before he figured out where to go.

I will concede my opinion is subjective, and there isn't anyway to know at this time.

I find it concerning that Politicfact is presenting it as a fact that it was a gesture and not a confused moment.  They don't know.  And, to support their position, they use the fact that facebook is flagging related posts in it's effort to "combat fake news and misinformation", and that one would be missing context if they simply watched the video.

As far as I can tell on the internet, the MSM hasn't even touched this incident.   They don't want to even bring attention to this video.

Well said!

I agree most of the world is not as informed as we should be.  However, I bet some of your coworkers know more than they let on. In my experience, the left seems to be more vocal and opinionated in the workplace.  I hear things from coworkers all the time who seemingly think everyone shares their opinion.  I even had a doc pop a bottle of sparkling cider at the nurses station when Biden won.  I can only imagine the chaos if a Trump supporter had done that.

Anyway,  the workplace isn't really the place or time to get into a deep discussion on things so I usually play dumb and go on with my business.

It is a statistical reality that half of a population with be above average and half below average. I never called them morons, which is, of course, hyperbole.

Going back to the article that Tweety posted, many of the people interviewed were unaware of or didn't understand many of the achievements of the current administration. Perhaps this is willful ignorance, or what they get from the media, or they just don't have the faculties to understand things like inflation, or that we don't elect an omnipotent king, we elect an administrator.

I'm starting to think Americans won't be happy until they get handed a million dollars and a new pony.

My coworkers are not very political but there's one that wears a MAGA hat and says "Let's Go Brandon".  I want to be catty and report him but haven't.   St. Pete is pretty progressive so no one broke out champagne when Trump won but I doubt there would have been choas. When Obama won there were a lot of happy people.

But mostly I find them uninformed.  For example the border situation.  I've mentioned it to blank stares

I despise liberals who think like this.  Maybe many just simply disagree on what would be considered an "achievement" by the Biden administration.

Maybe those of you who voted out Trump were just unaware or didn't understand his achievements?

No, that is incorrect.  I'm surprised someone with above average intelligence and superior faculties of understanding wouldn't check their facts before making such condescending statements.

Ooh, that burns. And I don't really want a pony. A cogent, effective immigration policy would be nice, though.

It's no secret which party has conditioned many Americans to expect this, and who likes to give things like this.  Is it?
