President Biden thread

Published

Wow.  No one has started such a thread yet?

After promising that most K-8 students would be in schools in the first 100 days,  apparently Joe is afraid to lead on this and has drastically scaled back that goal.

Instead, we're shooting for about half to go to school at least one day a week,  by the end of April.

It should be standard practice for all of us.  Single source stories are always suspect, in my view.

I agree, if only one source is reporting a story it's suspect.

I take issue sometimes with how a story is reported.

Take for example NPR:   Justice Stephen Breyer, an influential liberal on the Supreme Court, to retire

BBC:   US Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer to retire

Fox News:  Squad comes to collect on Biden's SCOTUS promise after seat opens up to advance radical agenda

I disagree with the idea that Fox News is an entertainment organization.  They are a legit news organization, and it's not they aren't reporting true stories. But it can't be denied they are Republican news organization hell bent on pushing their agenda and to stroke fears of the left.

We should all take issue with how current events are reported.  The Adfontesmedia.com comparative tool looks at use of inflammatory language, imagery and rhetoric in telling a story.  Ultimately, everyone that is making it a regular habit to rely on media which are on the falling edges of that bell curve of accuracy and bias risks forming opinion that is as influenced by opinion and rhetoric as it is facts and evidence.

Fox does have a few actual hours dedicated to a newsperson reading the news.  The rest of it is just infotainment.  There is a huge difference between the news hour and the other 23 hours which are mostly blowhards discussing their opinions.

Tucker is a propagandist.  His employer knows that but his audience does not.

And if Fox were truly a news organization, they wouldn't even allow such a sinister propogandist to twaddle from their airwaves.  But they are NOT the news.  It  was  Roger Aisles's newsMedia dream to make a tons of money and have access to babes desperate to be on television.

Biden’s seeming lack of awareness regarding the economic woes Americans are experiencing is bad enough. But his refusal to chart a different economic course is downright disgraceful........

At this point in his presidency, one can assume either that Biden thinks the American people are economically illiterate or that he is hopelessly out of touch with the plight of everyday Americans. Either way, it doesn’t seem like the president will change course anytime soon.

The article talks about how Clinton did an about face on his policies and wound up with a popular rating and a good economy.

Not everyone appreciated Clinton's two-faced policies. Especially how he almost immediately back tracked on his promise to end the band of gay in the military.  It took Obama to do that.

I'm actually tittering here comparing Biden's supposed apathy to the woes of non-millionaires as compared to Trump's enthusiasm for policies that would have benefitted those who weren't millionaires or billionaires.  Both parties are unseemingly allied to corporations but none so blatently as the Republicans.  One exception:  Joe Manchin's daughter who is a blight on humanity.

Both parties reflect that the USA is a capitalist oligarchy. Only one of the two political parties, however, is engaged in anti-democratic and authoritarian activities while lying to their voting base about the foundation of their actions. It is that corrupt party that prefers to leave the uncertainties of the Democratic processes to the dustbin of history in order to maintain or obtain power.

The polls keep getting worse for Sleepy Joe.

"The poll, from ABC News and The Washington Post, found that 37 percent of adults in the U.S. strongly or somewhat approve of the way Biden is handling his job as president, compared to 55 percent who said they strongly or somewhat disapprove. Seven percent said they had no opinion."

I called people out for using lame names for Trump like "the Orange One" so I'll call you out for using "Sleepy Joe".  No place in a mature discussion of the President.   But that's just my opinion.

President Biden's first year in the White House has ushered in record job gains, unprecedented wage gains for low-income workers and GDP growth not seen in decades.

But polls show Americans remain deeply cynical about how the president is handling the economy — and that's a problem for Biden and Democratic lawmakers heading into November's midterm elections.

But perception is everything and it's going to be difficult to sway people's opinion with inflation.  Obama had the same problem with good numbers and low confidence in the economy.

The GOP will definitely capitalize on this sentiment.
